Her simple yet resolute words shattered Nick completely. His eyes burned with desperation. ” No! Divorce? I don’t agree!” he shouted, his voice raw.
“That divorce agreement was a trick. You made me sign it without even letting me read it!
“It doesn’t count! We’re still married! You can’t leave me! You can’t!”
Nick spiraled into madness, gripping Mia’s arin with frenzied force, yelling like a man possessed. Mia struggled against him, but his grip was unrelenting.
Suddenly, he dragged her toward his car, intent on forcing her inside. Just as things were about to take a dangerous turn, a tall, commanding figure appeared out of nowhere and landed a solid punch on Nick.
Still shaken, Mia looked up to see an all–too–familiar face.
“James?” she exclaimed in disbelief. “What are you doing here?”
James stepped in front of her protectively. “Your face looked pale earlier, and I was worried, so I followed you.”
“Damn it!” Nick, now staggering from the blow, got back on his feet. Seeing James standing so close to Mia, his anger erupted. “Who the hell are you? Get away from my wife!”
Nick swung a fist toward James, but James caught it effortlessly, twisting Nick’s arm and pinning him against the car.
“Wife? Really?” James sneered. “Didn’t you hear Mia? She’s divorced from you. She has nothing to do with you anymore.”
That remark sent Nick into a fury. Summoning his strength, he broke free and charged at James, and the two began to fight in earnest.
Both men were skilled and strong, and for a while, it was an even match. Mia tried desperately to break up the fight, but neither would listen to her.
Just then, Zoe and Tom appeared. With a confident tone, Tom announced that he would break up the fight. However, the moment he stepped in, instead of stopping it, he joined James in giving Nick a thorough beating.
Mia blinked in disbelief. “Aren’t you supposed to stop the fight? Why are you taking sides?” she thought incredulously.
