Chapter 7
Meanwhile, I had already faked my death and arrived at Meldora.
That explosion?
It was planned–something I had asked my biological father to arrange.
Luke hated me and wanted revenge.
So, I gave him what he wanted.
I only hoped that when he finally learned the truth, he could bear the weight of losing me.
As soon as I stepped off the plane, my father, Theodore Johnson, was already waiting. He was surrounded by the top medical
specialists in the field.
His eyes landed on the empty space beneath my knees, on the way my pants hung limply over what was no longer there.
Tears streamed down my father’s face. “Natalie, it’s all my fault. If only I had taken you away back then, this never would have
happened to you.
“That scoundrel! I swear, I’ll make him kneel before you and beg for forgiveness. I’ll strip him to the bone. I won’t let this slide!”
I couldn’t help but laugh at his reaction, and I gently wiped away the tears at the corners of his eyes.
He and my mother had divorced amicably.
At the time, he had wanted to take me with him to Meldora. However, I had been too young and too attached to my mother to
leave.
Even though he hadn’t been by my side all these years, his care had never wavered.
So, I didn’t blame him.
After a thorough medical examination, the doctors designed custom prosthetics for me. They said that with rehabilitation, I
would be able to walk again.
My father held me tightly and cried tears of relief.
And under his warmth and care, the shadows that had haunted me slowly began to fade.
Meanwhile, the fallout from the explosion was catastrophic. It caused Luke’s father, Damian Quinton, to return from his business
trip earlier than planned.
When he walked in, he was met with the sight of his son kneeling before him. Luke confessed in a broken voice that he had hired a
hitman to get revenge on Natalie and Melanie.

Damian almost blacked out from anger.
He slapped Luke with all the strength he could muster, his anger boiling over. “How did I raise a monster like you?! Melanie
treated you so well! How could you even bear to do such a thing?!
“Your mother had thalassemia. Do you know who gave her blood transfusions? Melanie. She was the reason your mother lived a
few more years.
