Chapter 7
The moment the plane landed at Melrand Airport, Warren finally felt a sense of relief.
David had mentioned earlier that he and his wife, Dahlia White, would come to pick him up. However, Warren noticed that another young woman was also with them.
“Over here, Warren!”
Warren smiled and walked over. He gave Dahlia a warm hug first and complimented, “You’re as young and beautiful as ever, Mrs. Keaton
Then, he waved at David to greet him. Warren joked, “Seriously, Mr. Keaton. If you don’t take better care of yourself, you won’t be a good match for such a gorgeous and young wife.”
David guffawed heartily and countered, “Why, you cheeky little rascal! We haven’t seen each other in years, and the first thing you do is poke fun at me.
“What do you mean I’m poking fun at you? I’m complimenting you! With that bushy beard of yours, you look like a seasoned photographer. I dare say you could be on par with Marx Reeve,
Warren responded smoothly.
With another hearty laugh, David scolded, “Get out of here! I can see that Shailey has spoiled you rotten since you were young. You’re bold enough to even make fun of your elders.”
At the mention of Shalley, Dafilia asked, “Did you come here alone? Didn’t Shailey come to see you off?”
David glanced behind him and asked, “Is she picking up your luggage?”
Warren linked one arm with David and the other with Dahlia to pull them along “I’m an adult now, and I’m a grown man. I don’t need anyone to see me off. I came here on my own Let’s get a move on, Mr. and Mrs. Keaton I’m starving
David and Dahlia didn’t notice anything amiss. They cheerfully let Warren drag them toward
the ext.
But the young woman who had come with them used after them and called out, “Um,
Warren…”
David suddenly remembered her presence and smacked his forehead. He then said with sheepish smile, “Oh my goodness! I can’t believe how scatterbrained I am. I totally forgot
about my secretary.
Actually, Warren had noticed the young lady as soon as he stepped out of the airport. She looked like she was in her early 20s, and she had head of long, blonde hair. Wearing a knitted gray sweater, she looked gentle and sweet.
David said, “Warren, this is Thandie Sage. Do you remember her?”

Warren thought about it for a moment but ultimately shook his head, looking lost. “I’m sorry, Thandie… Are you another one of David’s students too?”
David laughed out loud in amusement. “Don’t you remember anything?”
Warren failed to conjure anything about Thandie from his memories.
Thandie’s face flushed a little, and she looked a bit flustered. “Mr. Keaton, please don’t bring up the past. Spare me the embarrassment, please
David laughed even harder upon hearing her. “Fine, fine. I won’t bring it up. You should find a chance to tell him yourself.”
Thandie grew even more unnerved and quickly ran off while muttering, “I’ll go get the car. Wait for me at the terminal exit. I’ll be back soon.”
Warren watched Thandie’s retreating back curiously. He still couldn’t make heads or tails of
the situation.
Finally, Dahlia decided to give him a hand when she saw that he was truly at a loss. “Warren, do you remember giving a girl a love letter when you were in college?”
Warren jolted at that memory–he remembered everything now.
That had been a huge misunderstanding. The love letter wasn’t from him–it was from his
roommate.
Back then, his shy roommate had a crush on a junior coursemate but didn’t dare to confess to her. When Warren heard about it, he decided to help by volunteering to play Cupid.
Eventually, he found an opportunity to give the letter to the girl outside the drawing studio. building. Just as he was about to explain the situation to Thandie after giving her the letter, a few guys nearby grabbed the letter from her and started reading it out loud.
At first, Warren wasn’t really concerned because a love letter written by a college student normally contained innocent and sweet words of admiration. Never in a million years could he have expected that his timid roommate would take such a bold approach in confessing his
feelings.
The first line read, “Thandie, you’re so hot.”
Then, it was followed by an even more outrageous second line. It read, “Your legs are so long, and you’re so buxom.”
Warren froze on the spot.
Thandie was equally stunned as well. She awkwardly apologized before running off to chase the boys who had taken the letter from her.

As a result, the brazen contents of that love letter turned Warren into an overnight sensation on campus. At the same time, it upset Shailey immensely.
Warren explained multiple times that he neither liked Thandie nor wrote the letter. He stressed time and again that it was all a misunderstanding. Still, it did nothing to quell Shailey’s fury. Whenever she got angry, the consequences were severe.
Somehow, Shailey pulled some strings and managed to send Thandie abroad under the guise of a sponsored study program. By doing this, she effectively removed Thandie from Warren’s
life.
Warren felt guilty about it for a while. Since Thandie had gone overseas, his roommate’s budding romance was nipped in the bud cruelly. He spent ages trying to explain things to Shailey.
As they waited at the terminal exit, Thandie pulled up in a car.
She stopped and rolled down the window, saying, “Mr. and Mrs. Keaton… Warren, please get in.”
David and Dahlia, being the loving couple that they were, took the back seat.
That left only the passenger seat for Warren. He stood outside for a moment, unmoving.
Thandie looked at him and asked, “Hey, Warren. Why aren’t you getting in?” Warren thought for a moment and then asked, “Thandie, do you have a boyfriend?”
