Chapter 100
Harvey had always done things his way everyone else had to play by his rules.
“I want the Black Hole, the Bugatti La Voiture Noire, and the Aston Martin Valkyrie.”
Elara spoke in Melcinian as she listed the three cars she wanted. These were the most expensive cars in Harvey’s
The sharp glint in Harvey’s eyes tummed ley cold in an instant, as if he were trying to see through the helmet covering Elara’s face.
“How do you know I have the La Volture Noire and the Valkyrie in my garage?”
His presence was so overwhelming that most people would have been trembling under his glare. But Elara had lived with him for years–his oppressive aura had long since lost its effect on her.
A man capable of building a car like Black Hole must be a true car enthusiast. It wasn’t hard to guess that these two high–performance hypercars would be in your collection. Mr. Fisher, are you willing to part with them?” Luna’s explanation sounded reasonable-as a professional racer, she could easily deduce what kind of cars a man like Harvey would own.
And yet, Harvey’s gaze remained locked onto her with an intensity that ran deeper than mere suspicion.
“You know me well.”
There was something unnervingly familiar about her, a strange sense that they had crossed paths before. Harvey had the sudden urge to rip off her helmet and see what kind of woman was hiding underneath.
“You have three days to collect the cars from the Fisher residence.”
He wanted a private meeting with Luna. He wanted to see who she really was–without the helmet, and without the racing suit.
Elara met his gaze without fear. “Then, Mr. Fisher, can I have the keys to Black Hole now?”
Shek
kept her voice steady as she spoke in Melcinian through her helmet. The slight distortion made it sound different from her usual tone.
Even so, this was her ex–husband standing in front of her. And beside him, was the son she had raised for five
years.
She had once been closer to them than anyone–so just how little attention had they paid to her all those years, that they couldn’t even recognize her voice right now?
However, she was learning how to play the game with Harvey.
Harvey was like a vicious attack dog that never let go of its prey–and what she was doing now was snatching f straight from its jaws.
Harvey simply pulled out Black Hole’s key and tossed it toward her. The sleek, oval–shaped key drew a perfect arc through the air before landing squarely in Elara’s palm.
The Black Hole had been built for Dawn. If she were watching from above, knowing that her idol, Luna, was now racing in her place, she would probably feel at peace.
Theodore walked over and stood beside Elara. Harvey’s brow furrowed deeply, forming a sharp crease. Seeing Theodore standing next to Luna was an eyesore.
Chapter 100
Elara handed the car key to Theodore. “Have someone send Black Hole to the scrapyard.”
Then, she added in a voice loud enough for Harvey to hear, Dismantle it and sell the parts.”
Black Hole had cost more to build than Corona, but it had no real reputation. No collector would buy such an expensive, nameless car.
The only way to make money from it was to break it into pieces and sell it for parts. Elara quickly estimated that the engine alone could fetch millions.
A wave of icy hostility settled over Harvey’s face. “You’re going to destroy Black Hole?”
“Mr. Fisher, a bet is a bet.” Elara and Theodore spoke at the exact same time.
Elara’s heart skipped a beat–had her mind–syne with Theodore from the race still not faded?
A vein pulsed beneath Harvey’s temple. He wanted to rip Theodore’s mouth apart.
Theodore, looking as effortlessly handsome as ever, flashed a dazzling smile. Then he turned toward the staff standing behind him.
One of them stepped forward and held out a bucket and a cloth. “Mr. Fisher, these are for washing the car.” The poor staff member didn’t even dare get too close–Harvey was like a predator baring its fangs to him.
Keeping a safe distance of at least three feet, the man crouched down. He set the bucket on the ground and slid it forward. Then, he bolted.
Harvey let out a low chuckle and agreed smoothly, “I’d be more than happy to serve Corona.”
“Who said you were washing Corona?” Elara and Theodore spoke in unison again.
They turned to glance at each other, both realizing they had thought the exact same thing.
Harvey took a deep breath. What the hell was going on?
The longer he looked at Theodore, the more annoyed he felt 1
