When the phone started ringing again, Niamh jumped in shock. Then, she saw it was Alex calling, and she suddenly looked serious. She figured it wouldn’t be good news if he was calling her at that hour!
She couldn’t help feeling frustrated when she listened to her phone ringing. So, she answered the call. “Hello?”
Right after she answered the call, Alex started complaining to her, “You really have doomed me this time! My license has been revoked!”
Niamh immediately denied it. “What does that have to do with me? You must’ve been the one who has done something illegal!”
Alex couldn’t accept it at all. “Someone has been pressuring my company. In order to keep Platinum 818 going, they decided to kick me out.”
Niamh was stunned for a moment when she heard that. “Was it the Snapp family who pressured your company?” “They weren’t the only ones!” Alex sounded terrified when he spoke. “Niamh! Didn’t you say Elara was just an ordinary housewife? Even the officials are protecting her, and she’s not someone we can offend at all!”
“Nonsense!” Niamh yelled. “You’re just incapable of controlling the situation! Forget it. I can’t count on you for this anymore. I should just deal with that woman myself!”
There was one more day before the results of the ALI Math Competition were announced, and Finnegan took Elara and Merida out for a hike. It was 6:00 am, and the sun was just starting to rise. The hills were covered in a thick fog, and the breeze was cool.
Finnegan walked confidently in the front, wearing a white t–shirt and a pair of green sweatpants. Even the muscles on his calves were showing behind the pants‘ materials, let alone the rest of his body.
The tight shirt complemented the well–defined muscles on his chest, and his biceps showed how much training he had done.
Elara took off her windbreaker and tied it around her waist. Then, she continued moving with her gaze lowered. She didn’t dare to look forward at all.
Every time Finnegan took a step, the shape of his back would show perfectly through his pants, and it would make a person feel excited.
Merida was walking beside Elara. After they hiked for ten minutes, she noticed the latter was starting to pant heavily.
“You can do it, Mommy! Take another step! You’re doing great! Come on! Just a little longer!” Her adorable voice echoed throughout the woods. As Merida cheered, Elara moved like a child who had just learned how to walk.
Elara panted heavily, and her legs had already gone numb. So, she could only take one step at a time while holding Merida’s hand.
Finnegan stopped in his tracks and turned around to look at Elara. “Let me carry you from here,” he said. If he carried her, he wouldn’t have to slow down his pace on purpose anymore. With her on his back, he could start hiking faster. Merida was also strong enough to keep up with his swift pace.
Elara just shook her head when she heard the idea.
“Let me carry you, Mommy!” Merida volunteered.

Chapter 117
She was able to carry two kids at her school with her arms while carrying another one on her back. So, she wanted to try carrying her mother as well. However, Elara shook her head again.
“I’ll let you carry me when you’re a little older, Merida. Now…” Elara took a deep breath as sweat rolled down her face nonstop. “Just hold my hand!”
Merida had become her personal walking stick, holding her hand tightly and accompanying her as they walked on the path.
While they hiked, Merida talked about her life at school nonstop, and her voice was crystal clear. Despite talking so much, she was still breathing steadily.
“Finn, you should go ahead first. Merida and I will just take our time and enjoy the scenery here.” Elara started panting heavily again after talking a little.
Finnegan looked at the stairs in the fog and nodded at her. “Alright. I’ll see you later.”
Atkina Church was a popular church on Oculla Hill. According to the rumors, if a person managed to be the first to reach the top of the hill and make a wish, that wish would be granted. So, in order to be the first person to make the first wish, he had no choice but to leave Elara behind for now.
“Don’t worry about us, and go ahead, Uncle Finn!” Merida waved her hand at Finnegan and said, “I’ll take good care of Mommy!”
Then, she grabbed Elara’s hand, and they took the first step on the stairs.
“Beau said I could kill a wild boar with a single punch. Is there any wild boar here, Mommy? If there is, I want to see if I can defeat it.”
