Chapter 151
“Ms. Jones!”
Several old people descended the stairs. They approached Eara excitedly.
Seeing that the guests had already made way for them, the arrival immediately drew the attention of the entire:
room.
They even seemed to be competing over who could reach her first as they walked towards her.
Elara recognized Christopher. As for the others, she had seen their faces before on the lecture posters at Hawke University and Capitol University.
Christopher extended his hand to her and said apologetically, “Apologies for not greeting you sooner.”
Elara humbly extended both hands and shook his. “Glad to meet you, Mr. Somner.”
The other elderly people grew more satisfied the longer they looked at her.
Unable to contain his joy, one of them said to her, “Ms. Jones, please come upstairs for a conversation.”
As soon as the words left his mouth, the guests erupted in an uproar. The second floor was not a place where the guests gathered downstairs could go. They could see that there was a large golden and purple door at the end of the staircase that led to the second floor.
Only the elites of the technological summit were qualified to walk through that door.
The guests in attendance knew that the number of people eligible to gather on the second floor did not exceed 20. These were figures far beyond the reach of ordinary business professionals and scientific researchers.
However, five of these academic bigwigs, who had only been seen on news broadcasts, appeared at the same time in the banquet hall on the first floor. They surrounded Elara and their eager gazes landed on her.
Niamh reacted as if she had been stepped on. She shrieked, ‘Elara snuck in with a fake invitation! What right does she have to go upstairs?”
The summit’s organizer, Lucas Pearson, responded, “A fake invitation? Ms. Jones‘ invitation was personally written by me. How could it possibly be fake?”
Niamh turned to the hotel manager. “But Don’s banquet guest list doesn’t even have Elara’s name!”
Ethel looked nervous as she stared at these esteemed people.
Lucas was not only the summit’s organizer but also the Vice President of the Capitol Chamber of Commerce. He was an elusive figure. Despite spending decades in Capitol, Ethel hadn’t been able to befriend him
Lucas didn’t even spare the hotel manager a glance. “Because he isn’t qualified to have access to the special guest
list.”
Christopher clasped his hands behind his back and let out a sneer. “The identity and itinerary of every special guest are classified as Class A confidential. How could the organizer possibly disclose that much information to the hotel manager?”
Don’s face had already turned pale. If the organizers found out that he had nearly thrown Elara out of the banquet hall just moments ago, he would undoubtedly be fired.
Don angrily whispered to Niamh, “I told you I don’t have the complete guest list, yet you insisted that your siste. couldn’t possibly be a high–level guest!”

Instead, Niamh puffed out her chest, becoming even more confident. “How was I supposed to know the truth? I was just trying to help you stand out and make a name for yourself at the hotel!”
Don looked like he’d eaten a mouthful of dust. “Niamh, you’ve completely screwed me over!”
Ethel suddenly snatched a tray from a walter’s hands. She carried the tray and walked to Lucas‘ side with fawning smile on her face.
“Mr. Pearson, please have some wine. It’s such a pleasure to meet you. My son is the president of Fisher Corp…”
“Mom!” Harvey furrowed his brows. Ethel’s behavior embarrassed him.
Lucas pressed his lips. He couldn’t stand the wrinkly smile on her face.
He said to her, “First give Elara a fresh glass of wine.”
Ethel froze like a deer in headlights. She stood frozen in place as she held the tray of wine glasses.
