Benjamin looked into her wide, innocent eyes and smirked with amusement. “In our world, having a woman by a guy’s side isn’t called dating–It’s called following”
Wendy frowned in confusion. “So, are you saying you don’t have a ‘follower‘ right now?”
Benjamin opened his mouth as if to respond but then shut again.
Wendy clenched her uninjured hand. This was Nail’s brother. If she stayed by his side, it might be the perfect way to expose Niamh’s true face effortlessly.
She stared at him timidly while putting on an air of wide–eyed innocence. “If I becorne your follower, do I get a salary? Do I get weekends off?
“Will you pay for my health insurance and benefits? If you can offer me something good, then you won’t have to live like a monk.”
Benjamin Tan his tongue over his molars. “That’s not what meant by following.”
Wendy looked as delicate and harmless as a flower. She bit down on her soft, pink lower lip and asked, “Am I your first follower?”
Benjamin’s lips curled into a grin, revealing sharp canine teeth. “Do you think you’re special now?”
Wendy gazed at him with an almost saintly glow in her eyes and sighed softly. “Poor thing… How did you even survive all this time without a follower?”
Benjamin went silent at her words.
Niamh limped back to the banquet hall with one hand clutching her waist. She scanned the crowd, searching for Harvey, but he was nowhere in sight.
Ethel was missing too, Had they left the reception early?
Pulling out her phone, she tried to call Harvey, only to see spider web–like cracks spreading across the screen. Her hand was covered in scratches from the branches, and her face bore the marks of her struggle.
When the reflection of her disheveled hair and scraped check appeared on the darkened screen, her mood plummeted.
It had taken all her effort to crawl out of the bushes, crouching down to search through the undergrowth before finally retrieving her phone.
By the time she made it back to the terrace, it was empty. The only sign of what had happened was the shattered glass scattered across the floor.
She had returned to the banquet hall in this miserable state, expecting Harvey’s concern and care. But where he?
Then, she noticed something unusual–nearly half the guests had gathered in layers, forming tight circles around something. It made it impossible for her to see who stood at the center of all the attention.
Whoever it was had to be someone of immense importance a rising star in the industry. Niamh wanted in. If this person was worth knowing, she would make her move.
Just as she was approaching curiously, the crowd of executives suddenly parted, stepping aside to clear a path.

“Excuse me, I’ll be taking my leave now.”
Elara stepped forward from the heart of the gathering. Under the dazzling glow of the crystal chandeliers, she radiated confidence and brilliance.
It was Elara! Niamh’s expression twisted in an instant, as she had just swallowed a fly.
Elara walked toward Theodore and asked, “You’ve been standing there watching me this whole time. Your Injuries must not be that severe.”
Theodore immediately paled and lowered his head while coughing weakly.
Elara could tell he was exaggerating, but she still offered out of basic courtesy, “I’ll take you to the hospital for a checkup.”
Theodore shook his head. “I’m fine… Ahem! Elara, just take me home instead. There’s no one there, and if I can just lie on the couch and sleep for a while.
“I’ll be fine after. Ahem!”
Elara opened her mouth to respond, but Theodore coughed again before she could. Even his eyes were turning red. “When I used to get hurt, my dad never cared about me… I’ve always had a strong ability to recover…”
At that moment, Leonard rolled out of the elevator in his wheelchair. Normally, he wouldn’t have appeared on the first floor.
But after witnessing the chaos Harvey and Theodore had caused over Elara at the staircase earlier, he had felt compelled to step in.
“Are you still coughing even after spitting up a little wine? Mr. Snapp, I fear your constitution is rather weak.”
