“You haven’t even tried yet. How do you know whether you can or can’t be a professional racer again?” Elara gave Theodore a soft smile. When it came to racing, he understood her better than anyone.
She looked at the invitation once more, making a crucial decision in her heart. “I’ll send an email first. If that person replies, then I’ll try to participate in the race,”
Theodore immediately knew who she meant. It was her former co–driver- the closest friend she had parted ways with five years ago. Since Luna’s retirement, Elara hadn’t spoken to her co–driver once in all those years.
She pulled out her phone and logged into her email. Aside from this, she wasn’t sure if she had any other way to reach them.
Her fingers instinctively typed the email address she knew by heart into the recipient field. Holding her phone tightly, she began composing the message.
She recalled the moment Theodore had appeared before her while driving the Corona. He had asked, “Are you still holding on to your dream?”
At that moment, she had thought of her best friend.
I want to become Luna again and fulfill the dream we once shared.” She typed.
Elara pressed the send button as her heart was pounding wildly. After sending the email, she found it impossible to calm downL
She quickly locked her phone screen. Not even during math competitions had she felt this nervous.
The elevator doors opened. Theodore was the first to speak. “I’ll take you home.”
On the way, they could talk about the International Racing Championship in detail–he was certain she wouldn’t
refuse.
Just then, a young, childish voice rang out. “Mommy!”
Elara quickly spotted Merida’s location. Merida sat inside a Range Rover, one hand resting on the window as she waved at Elara. The tall man in the driver’s seat remained hidden in the shadows of the cabin.
Elara smiled and said to Theodore, “My brother is here to pick me up.”
Theodore stepped forward, about to greet Merida, when he suddenly coughed a few times.
“Mr. Theodore, are you okay?” Merida asked with concern
Theodore effortlessly opened the car door and slid into the seat with practiced ease.
“I ran into Harvey at the banquet. He-
The moment Theodore started speaking, Merida’s attention was fully drawn to him, listening intently to his account of the event.
Elara bid Leonard farewell and was about to get into the car when Theodore patted the seat beside him. His eyes gleamed with anticipation, as if he were seconds away from calling out-
Come on in, dear guest!”
“Get out.” Finnegan didn’t bother with pleasantries as he ordered him away.

Theodore clutched his chest dramatically and started coughing again. Merida Immediately raised her hand to pat his back in comfort, only for Theodore to start coughing even more dramatically.
“Uncle Finn, Mr. Theodore is hurt! Can we take him home?”
Elara pulled open the door and slid into the front passenger seat. She turned to Finnegan and said, “Just give Mr. Snapp a ride,”
Though Theodore was clearly exaggerating his injuries, he bad at least put on a convincing act in front of Harvey
earlier.
Theodore grinned smugly. “At least Elara still cares about me. Unlike a rough brute like Lt. Lloyd, who has no idea how to treat people gently!”
Finnegan thought to himself that if he had a gun right now, he would gladly put a bullet through Theodore’s skull just so the man could learn the true meaning of pain.
As Elara fastened her seatbelt, she looked up and saw Harvey walking toward Leonard. Harvey had changed into a fresh set of clothes, and his hair was now washed clean of the wine that had been poured over him
When he spotted the Range Rover, he instantly recognized it as Finnegan’s car. His gaze passed through the window, landing on Elara inside.
However, she didn’t spare him a single glance. To her, he was nothing more than a passing stranger.
