Harvey took back his phone without checking the chat history in the Capitol Brotherhood group chat. Whatever those people had said after seeing the video of Niamh’s brutal punishment didn’t matter to him,
His right hand gripped the phone tightly, while the palm of his left hand that was lashed 30 times by the bamboo stick throbbed with pain. His skin was raw, and fresh blood pooled in his palm. The medical staff stood nearby, but none dared step forward to treat his wounds.
His voice was cold as he asked Elara, “Are you satisfied now?”
Before she could answer, he sneered. “You’re bullying the weak just because you have power.”
Elara chuckled. “I have power to wield do you?“.
Her eyes curved with amusement, and the smile on her radiant face deepened. “Mr. Fisher, I’d advise you to keep your tail tucked from now on.”
She inhaled deeply, letting the crisp air fill her lungs, refreshing her entire being.
Harvey’s expression darkened. Just as he was about to retort, Elara sighed and said, “So, this is what it feels like to be protected and favored. When I feel truly shielded and truly defended, even the blood in my veins seems to pulse with new life.”
She turned back to look at him, her eyes as clear as though they had been washed clean. “You were my husband once. And yet, I never felt that way with you.”
Seeing Elara laugh at herself, Harvey’s breathing grew unsteady. Just then, the 50 lashes ended. Niamh lay motionless on the ground, unable to move.
Abel panted heavily and wiped the sweat from his brow. Even his own hands had been cut by the bamboo stick. But surrounded by Leonard’s people, he didn’t dare curse at anyone else–only at Niamh.
He had seen with his own eyes how much Leonard indulged Elara. Abel narrowed his eyes as his gaze toward Elara shifted slightly.
Beau’s tear–streaked face was a mess. No one even bothered to wipe his snot–covered nose. Peeking out anxiously, he asked, “Niamh, are you okay? Are you hurt?”
Meanwhile, Harvey ordered the medical staff, “Put Niamh on the stretcher.”
The medical staff didn’t move. Following their gaze, Harvey saw Leonard’s men fastening ropes around Niamh instead.
Harvey’s voice turned sharp as he asked, “What are you doing?”
One of Leonard’s subordinates answered calmly, “Prof. Fisher wants Ms. Niamh and Mr. Beau to spend the night at the bottom of the slope.”
Harvey’s breathing became uneven. “Beau is only five! Leaving him out here overnight is too dangerous!
Leonard seemed to have anticipated his reaction. His subordinate continued, “Prof. Fisher said you’re welcome to stay with him.”
Harvey was immediately dumbfounded. His expression turned ice–cold as he glared at Elara.
“Beau is your son. Are you really going to just stand by and watch him spend the night out here in the wilderness?”
Elara countered, “When he deliberately hid my existence from the rescue team, did he ever stop to think that

Xavier and I might be left stranded in the wilderness?”
Harvey snapped. “You’re an adult!”
Elara laughed. “Then you, an adult, can stay and keep your son company tonight.”

Harvey’s voice dropped into a chilling tone. “You’re his mother. Shouldn’t a mother be forgiving and kind to her child?”
Elara met his gaze head–on. “I’ve wondered before… Maybe it’s because Beau is your son that he was born without a conscience.”
It was like an invisible punch landed straight on Harvey’s chest, rendering him speechless. Elara glanced at Beau with cold indifference before turning back to Harvey.
“Your son became an accomplice. Maybe you should take a hard look at yourself and consider whether you’re the one who failed as a father.”
She turned away. “Xav, let’s go.”
Hand in hand with Xavier, Elara walked off with Finnegan. Beau watched them disappear into the distance. By the time he realized what was happening, a layer of mist had clouded his eyes.
He quickly wiped away his tears. It had to be the pain in his hand–the one that had been beaten raw. That was the only reason he couldn’t control his tears.
His small body trembled. It was as if someone had hollowed out his chest, leaving a gaping void where cold winds howled through, making him feel utterly lost.
Meanwhile, Abel stood frozen, watching helplessly as his daughter was kicked down the slope.
