Elara pressed the stopwatch on her phone and held up the screen for Harvey to see. The ticking numbers on the timer flashed like bullets, each one piercing through his chest.
Once upon a time, this was exactly how he had treated Elara And now, the once–arrogant and untouchable CEO of Fisher Corp was the one strapped to a ticking time bomb.
One of the officers nodded approvingly. “Ms. Jones has made a very reasonable suggestion. Mr. Fisher, please convince Niamh to record an apology video. If she can actually collect 999 likes on her post, it will help us close the case.”
For the first time in his life, Harvey felt as if he were being burned alive over an open flame. The feeling was unbearably stifling
His expression darkened, but he had no choice under the relentless countdown on Elara’s screen. He unwillingly pulled out his phone and dialed the number.
Never in his wildest dreams had he thought there would come a day when he would be forced into a comer by Elara Jones. And yet, as she held him in this chokehold, his pulse pounded harder than ever.
Niamh was still in detention and had no access to her phone, but Harvey had arranged for a lawyer to stay by her side.
When the lawyer answered, they put the call on speaker. That allowed Niamh, whose hands were still cuffed to the metal chair, to hear Harvey’s voice loud and clear.
“Niamh, follow the officers‘ instructions and record an apology video right now. Then, post it to your social media and get 999 likes.”
Niamh was stunned. “Harvey! Why the hell would I do that?”
This was like being paraded around naked!
“Get 999 likes, and you’ll be released!”
Her eyes welled up with tears. “I won’t do it! That’s too embarrassing!”
Elara’s nails tapped lightly against the screen of her phone The rhythmic sound was a subtle reminder to Harvey that time was running out.
She yawned before adding in a lazy voice, “Once these three minutes are up, if Niamh hasn’t 1. the video, I won’t be signing that statement of leniency.”

The moment Niamh heard Elara’s voice, she exploded like a firecracker. “Elara! This was your rotten idea, wasn’t it?”
Fury sent her chest heaving. She struggled against the restraints, slamming her body against the metal chair as the impact rang out in sharp, jarring clangs
Elara remained calm as she said, “Two minutes left.”
Harvey then ordered the lawyer beside Niamh, “You write out a formal apology for her. She can just read it.”
Niamh’s voice quivered with tears. “Harvey! How could you do this to me too?”
He didn’t hesitate to ask, “Do you still want to compete in the exhibition race?”
She mumbled, “I can just not!”

Harvey cursed under his breath. Niamh really had no ambition!
“You told me yourself you wanted to fulfill Dawn’s last wish. Have you already forgotten? You’re racing for her!”
His fury surged through the phone like a tidal wave, rattling through her bones. “I want you to wear the racing suit that was custom–made for Dawn! I want you to put on the helmet with her name on it and compete in that race!”
Those had been her words before–her determination to achieve the dream Dawn never could.
“Why do you think I went through all this trouble to bring in Luna’s old Moonchaser Racing Club team to train you? Why do you think I fought to get your name on the roster?
“Niamh Jones! How could you betray Dawn’s dream so easily?
Even through the phone, his anger hit her like a physical force, leaving her trembling in place.
