Chapter 234
“There’s a saying that goes, you can’t polish a turd, and it couldn’t be truer for Niamh!
“Her driving is embarrassingly amateurish! We gave her a top-tier modified race car, and she hasn’t even floored the accelerator!” one engineer scoffed.
“I’m packing my bags and heading home. I refuse to stay and witness this humiliation!”
On the track, the gap between Niamh and the other racers widened with every passing second. She kept waiting for someone ahead to make a mistake, but every single driver was pushing full throttle.
No one showed any signs of slowing down. Panic crept into her eyes–if none of them faltered, she would finish
dead last
Her expression darkened. There was no way she would allow that to happen. However, she still had a trick up her sleeve.
Meanwhile, Beau stood by the glass window in the VIP lounge, clutching a model of Corona’s race car. He jumped up and down excitedly, chanting, “Go, Luna! Go, Luna!”
Ethel, who was seated comfortably in her chair, watched the race with little interest. She had never cared for motorsports, and the only reason she attended was to accompany her precious grandson
That, and to finally catch a glimpse of the wornan Beau couldn’t stop talking about–Luna. But in Ethel’s mind, Luna would never be worthy of marrying into the Fishers.
From what she had gathered, Luna retired from racing five years ago to get married and have children. Some speculated that her return to the track was because her family fully supported her, allowing her to reclaim her former glory. Others assumed she had marital problems and needed to make money to support herself.
But to Ethel, a woman stepping out to earn money only meant one thing her husband was an utter failure!
She watched Beau closely, calculating how to rid him of his ridiculous notion that Luna could be his new mother. If a woman like that knew she had caught the eye of the Fisher family’s little prince, she would undoubtedly develop ambitions of seducing Harvey.
Ethel resolved to speak with Luna after the race.
As the race continued, three socialite women in designer dresses surrounded Beau, each vying for his attention.
“Beau, have some water,” one cooed
“Beau, want some grapes? I’ll feed you,” another offered sweetly.
“Beau, try these strawberries! They smell amazing,” the third chimed in while flashing a charming smile.
“I don’t want it! Move away! You’re blocking my view!” Beau didn’t even spare them a glance as he shook his head and pushed away the grapes and strawberries offered to him.
One of the socialites holding a plate of strawberries almost lost her balance. Another, holding a skewer of grapes, watched in dismay as the fruit tumbled to the floor.
Still determined, the third woman smiled and persisted, “This is honey water. You’ve been cheering for so long Just have some to soothe your throat.”
Beau shot her an unimpressed look. He knew exactly what these women were after–they all wanted to be his new mother. But he had already chosen someone in his heart. The more they tried to win his favor, the more annoyed
he felt.

“Go give Xavier some water and grapes! He needs a new mon too!”

Xavier, who was sitting; quietly beside Ethel, remained focused on the large screen displaying Corona speeding ahead of the competition.
The women exchanged uncertain glances before subtly shifting their attention toward Xavier. Their expressions varied. Some were intrigued, while others were hesitant.
Ethel asked, “Xavier, do you like any of these ladies?”
She wasn’t opposed to the idea of finding Leonard a match After all, it could be beneficial for Beau as well. If Beau didn’t like them, perhaps Xavier would.
mid–race, Before anyone could react, Xavier suddenly jumped out of his seat and ran toward the floor–to–ceiling window. On the massive screen near the grandstand, the camera zoomed in on Corona–its hood had flown open completely obstructing the driver’s view.
Gasps filled the air as the audience collectively held their breath. Their eyes were glued to Corona’s struggle.
Seated in the grandstands, Merida, Finnegan, and Lesley watched in shock. Merida didn’t know who was driving Corona, but worry filled her bright, dark eyes.
“What’s going to happen?” she asked anxiously while looking up at Finnegan and Lesley.
Meanwhile, their expressions had turned grim.
“How did this even happen?” Finnegan muttered.
Lesley pressed her lips together, and her complexion seemed pale under the harsh sunlight. “I believe in Elara. She can handle it.”
Merida blinked when she heard her mother’s name. Where exactly was her mother?
