Chapter 235
Niamh noticed Corona’s hood lifting and curled her lips in satisfaction. Now, Corona would have to slow down; otherwise, it would end in a catastrophic crash.
The mechanics waved their flags, signaling for Elara to enter the pit. In a racing competition, the fastest lap time determined the winner. As long as Corona’s hood was adjusted in time, Luna still had a chance to secure the best result.
However, Corona sped past the pit entrance without the slightest intention of stopping.
“She’s not coming in for repairs!”
“With the car like that, how is she supposed to keep racing?
Even the mechanics were gaping in shock, eyes fixed on the still–speeding Corona with its hood flapping dangerously.
“Holy shit!”
The young clites of the capital, who had been lounging with their legs crossed, all sat up straight.
Some grabbed their binoculars and focused on the giant screen. Among them sat Benjamin, his eyes widening in disbelief. Seeing that Corona had no intention of slowing down, Benjamin also abruptly stood up.
Beside him sat Wendy. This was her first time watching a race, but she understood that with the hood lifted, the driver’s vision would be completely obstructed. The car could veer off the track at any moment.
She covered her mouth and murmured, “Why isn’t the driver stopping the car?”
Benjamin stared at the screen for two seconds, then suddenly smirked. The sheer intensity of the moment sent adrenaline coursing through his veins.
“That’s because this is nothing for Eucon’s number–one female driver!”
Lesley reached out to grip the railing in front of her. Back when they had prepared for the Capitol Circuit race, Elara had driven lap after lap on this very track. She had trained for eight to nine hours a day, wearing out countless sets of tires.
Every turn and every straight way of this entire circuit was etched into her mind like a permanent brand. Even five years later, she could still drive this track with her eyes closed.
“How reckless!” Ethel scoffed. The hood was completely lifted, yet the driver showed no intention of stopping for repairs. A woman this reckless was not someone she could ever admire.
Beau pressed both hands against the floor–to–ceiling glass. His and Xavier’s expressions were eerily identical. The two boys stared at Corona, so fixated that they even forgot to breathe.
Harvey’s gaze followed the giant screen.
He still refused to believe that the driver inside Corona, tearing through the track at over 200 miles per hour, was Elara!
Was Elara really this skilled behind the wheel? She had never displayed any extraordinary driving ability while she was with the Fishers.
Harvey searched his memories but couldn’t recall any details about Elara’s life. They had spent too little time together. Just as Elara had said, he had deliberately ignored her ever since Dawn passed away.
Chapter 215
The only thing he vaguely remembered was that in her first year of driving the kids around, she had received multiple speeding tickets. Ethel had dismissed her by saying she was just a country girl who didn’t understand traffic laws and had never driven a good car.
She had even arranged for several of the Fishers‘ professional chauffeurs to teach Elara how to drive. From then on, Elara had never gone over 40 milles per hour.
The very air around him felt sucked away, making it difficult for Harvey to breathe. Meanwhile, the entire audience had risen to their feet, and their deafening cheers crashed over him like waves.
Meanwhile, Theodore yanked the back of a man’s collar in other VIP suite, slamming his head against the glass window. This was the mechanic caught on surveillance tampering with Corona’s hood, Rupert Marsh.
He fell to his knees while instinctively pressing both hands against the glass. His eyes were currently filled with terror. Theodore gripped the back of his head, forcing him to look straight ahead.
With one hand tucked into the pocket of his tailored trousers, he leaned in slightly. His sharp brows were slanted like blades, and his eyes, cold as starlight, swirled with an intensity that seemed to pull people in.
“You’d better keep your eyes peeled and pray with me that no darkness will stop her from racing the light.”
Rupert’s eyes trembled as he stared at the image of Corona on the giant screen. His heart pounded wildly. Corona crashed, he would spend the rest of his life behind bars!

He had dared to tamper with Corona’s hood only because he was certain Luna would enter the pit for repairs. All he intended was to disrupt Luna’s racing rhythm, nothing more. Never had he imagined that his interference could lead to an irreversible disaster.
Beads of sweat, thick like wriggling earthworms, streamed down his forehead. All while the roar of the engine shook the very air above the track.
Like a bolt of black lightning, Corona hurtled toward the finish line.
Tires screeched against the asphalt, sending up a sharp, acrid smoke. Elara yanked the handbrake, and Corona spun in place, carving out a perfect arc. A piercing brake squeal sliced through the sky!
“Holy shit! That was insane!”
The wealthy youn
young elites had long forgotten they had come to watch Niamh’s race. As if on cue, all of them wiped the sweat from their foreheads.
“I swear I was about to throw up from the tension!”
“Corona’s victory was inevitable. The only racer who could ever beat Luna was Luna herself!
“I once had the honor of racing against Luna on Mount Clockwork’s off–road track. That alone made my life worth
The entire stadium erupted in cheers. The crowd chanted Luna’s name in unison.
“Ahhh!” Beau screamed with excitement. “Luna is incredible! She’s the greatest racer in the world! My idol!”
He threw himself onto Ethel’s lap. “Grandma! Luna won first place! I want Luna to be my new mommy!”
Ethel held his little hand. “You don’t even know what Luna looks like, and you already want her to be your new mommy? What if she turns out to be hideous?”
Beau’s face was dead serious. “I don’t care what she looks like! She’s my idol! My goddess! I want her to be my new mommy! I want her!”

He stomped his foot, whining at Ethel, who was completely speechless.
Corona came to a stop on the track, and as the car door lifted, the crowd held their breath. They watched as the driver, clad in a racing suit, stepped out of the vehicle.
The high–definition cameras immediately zoomed in on Lima. She raised both hands and removed her helmet.
At that moment, her face appeared on the giant screen in crystal–clear detail.
