Elara continued, “The other company is Graviton Tech, owned by Mr. Snapp. Mr. Snapp has offered two billion dollars to acquire Joss Tech while retaining all employees and departments, ensuring that Joss Tech continues to operate independently under its new ownership.”
Abel first picked up Graviton Tech’s acquisition proposal. Hipping through a few pages, he muttered, “Two billion? Why would Mr. Snapp offer such a high price for Jos Tech?”
Theodore leaned back against his chair, his posture seemingly relaxed and indifferent. “Just to make a beautiful woman smile. Consider it a gift for Elara.”
Abel’s gaze darted between Elara and Theodore, suspicion flickering in his eyes.
Theodore added, “Elata is my girlfriend. As long as it makes her happy, why wouldn’t I?”
Abel turned to Elara in shock. “You and Mr. Suapp are….
He had been considering arranging a marriage for Elara with some older, divorced businessman, hoping to leverage the union for the Jones family’s benefit. Yet, the daughter he had never thought much of had brought him an unexpected windfall instead.
“Elara, well done!” Abel grinned, rubbing his chin as he praised her.
The other executives in the room exchanged glances, their minds racing with new thoughts. So, this was why Theodore had remained single for so long–because he was into a married woman?
Abel was practically beaming. Holding onto Graviton Tech’s proposal, he struggled to suppress the delighted curve of his lips. “Two billion dollars… Mr. Snapp, you really are something!”
Theodore was candid. “I’ve liked Elara for a long time. Now that she’s willing to be with me, I’m happy to offer a number that pleases her.”
His voice dropped slightly. “Mr. Jones, I assume you wouldn’t refuse?”
He idly spun the glass in front of him. The water inside was perfectly still, and not a single drop had spilled over the rim.
Toying with the glass between his fingers, he added, “Refusing would be rather ungrateful, wouldn’t it?”
He chuckled softly, his dark eyes flashing with sharp intent before he feigned lightheartedness. “Just kidding. How could I ever threaten my future father–in–law?”
Abel was completely frozen under Theodore’s arrogant and unrestrained gaze. When he heard the words “father- in–law“, his entire body stiffened.
Could it be that Theodore wasn’t just playing around with bis daughter?
Excitement bubbled up inside Abel, and he couldn’t stop himself from rubbing his hands together. Just as he was about to speak, his phone, which had been resting on the table, suddenly vibrated.
Initially, he hadn’t intended to answer it, but a casual glance at the caller ID sent a jolt through him. His heart skipped a beat.
He hurriedly picked up the phone, and his voice was trembling as he answered, “Hello?”
A woman’s voice came through the speaker. “Abel, I’m back”
Abel shot to his feet. “Meeting adjourned! I’m going to the airport!”

He bolted out of the room without another word. Everyone in the conference room was left dumbfounded
At that very moment, Benjamin was in the middle of setting a cast for a patient across town at the hospital. His phone rang, and the second he saw the caller ID, he sucked by a sharp breath.
Tearing off his mask, he dashed toward the door. “Surgery postponed! I need to go to the airport!”
“Huh? Doctor? My leg!” The patient hopped on one fout, trying to chase after him.
Back in the conference room, Elara frowned in confusion. Who is he rushing off to pick up?”
Theodore answered casually, “I saw the name ‘Pris‘ on his caller ID.”
One of the executives, already searching on his phone, suddenly exclaimed, “Priscilla Price is back in the country!” The entire room erupted in shock.
“That’s Abel Jones‘ unattainable first love! It’s no wonder he abandoned the meeting to rush to the airport!”
Elara exchanged a glance with Theodore. She had heard of Priscilla Price before.
