Chapter 264
Elara focused on unbuttoning Theodore’s dress shirt, her depers working carefully as the soap made it difficult undo the buttons. She couldn’t be bothered to entertain Harvey’s self–righteous outburst
Theodore tilted his head slightly, his gaze dripping with disain as he looked at Harvey. “What’s wrong with my girlfriend helping me take off my shirt?
“Mr. Fisher, are you some leftover relic from the past? Why are your thoughts so archaic
He deliberately emphasized the last word.
Harvey’s pupils shrank. It was as if someone had struck him with a heavy blow, sending a sharp ache coursing through his body.
“Do you even hear yourself?” He scoffed. “How long has it even been since our divorce?”
Elara didn’t spare him a glance. “Oh? So after divorcing you, am I supposed to mourn like a widow?”
After unbuttoning the shirt completely, she didn’t want Theodore to dirty his hands, so she simply pulled the shirt off him herself.
The man’s physique was striking–not overly muscular, but lean and well–defined. His chest and abdominal muscles curved in a way that was naturally sculpted, something no amount of training could replicate
Elara unconsciously held her breath. The sheer masculinity radiating from him sent heat rushing to her face
Catching the rosy tint on her cheeks, Theodore lowered his gaze as his deep voice carried a teasing lilt. “Who looks better, me or Mr. Fisher?”
He said it in a tone that was loud enough for Harvey to hear. Harvey instinctively held his breath.
Elara simply chuckled. “You, of course.”
Since they were putting on a show, she figured she might as well go all in She added, “Your skin is smooth, your muscles are perfectly proportioned, and your waist is… exceptionally nice.”
Theodore’s waist really was impressive, but coming out as a compliment, the words somehow carried a different
undertone.
“Hmm…” Theodore licked his lips, realizing too late that he had just dug a hole for himself.
The blood rushing through his veins made his skin flush. Even the tips of his ears turned visibly red. Meanwhile, Harvey felt like his insides were being twisted into knots.
Out of the corner of his eye, he caught his own reflection in the mirror–his eyes were now bloodshot, and his expression was filled with hostility.
He barely recognized himself anymore. What the hell had he become?
“Elara! Are you with him just to spite me?” Harvey let out a disdainful laugh, his voice dripping with scorn.
“You and him don’t suit each other. That Snapp guy is going to dump you sooner or later!”
Shoving his hands into his pockets, he leaned back slightly, waiting for Elara to show the look of distresshe expected
Finally, she turned to him. “Mr. Fisher, have you been bored lately? My only wish for you is that you boil away like water in an electric kettle–so get lost!”

Harvey’s face darkened instantly. Theodore, on the other land, burst into laughter without a hint of restraint. He picked up the new dress shirt and buttoned it up himself this time.
Once he had finished dressing, he extended his arm toward Elara. She slipped her hand into the crook of his elbow, and his body instinctively tensed at the contact.
Harvey’s pupils contracted sharply. The salt he had Cyrus boy unexpectedly complemented Theodore and Elara as a pair.
A suffocating realization hit him he had just dressed up another man for her. The feeling was akin to plummeting from a great height, his chest tightening will the weight of it.
Theodore smirked. “Thanks for the suit, Mr. Fisher. It suits me perfectly.
“With you currently looking so haggard and washed up, it’s no wonder this style doesn’t suit you anymore.”
Harvey had thought that making Theodore wear the suit would be humiliating
Yet Theodore gladly accepted it without a second thought. Of course, why would he refuse a free gift? Especially when he had full confidence in his own physique.
Meanwhile, Harvey’s expression twisted with jealousy, while Theodore–glowing in the light of romance looked absolutely radiant.
As they were about to leave, Harvey called out, “Elara!”
But she didn’t stop.
His voice dropped lower, laced with desperation. “I forbid you from being with him!”
Elara glanced over her shoulder, barely sparing him a glance. “And you are?”
Elara and Theodore went to pick up Merida from school around 4:00 pm. When they arrived back at their apartment, Elara and Merida got out of the car while Merida waved goodbye to Theodore
“Mr. Theodore looks so handsome today!” she chirped while bouncing with excitement. Her pigtails were swaying with each step.
Elara was suddenly reminded of a question Theodore had asked her before.
“Who do you think is more handsome, your former dad or Mr. Theodore?” she whispered to her daughter.
“Mr. Theodore is more handsome!” Merida answered without hesitation. “He’s younger and prettier than my former dad!”
Elara chuckled. Theodore was only two years younger than Harvey.
Merida added enthusiastically, “Someone as good–looking as Mr. Theodore makes Mommy look even more impressive when she takes him out!”
Elara blinked in amusement.
“Where did you learn that from?” she asked with a smile..
Tilting her head up, Merida’s soft, fair cheeks were round like Beau’s. Her large, dark eyes shimmered under her long lashes.
“Paisley told me,” she said seriously. “She said a wife’s beauty is a husband’s pride. That’s why she’s learning

how to do makeup early and taking good care of herself to stay pretty.
“But! There are plenty of pretty wives out there! A good–looking husband is way rarer!”
Elara raised an eyebrow, surprised by her daughter’s perceptiveness.
The school often held parent–child events where mothers dressed up and vied for attention. Merida must have picked up on the social dynamics from observing them.
“A husband’s beauty is a wife’s greatest honor! Mommy, you should take Mr. Theodore to big events more often and let him make you shine!”
Elara was thoroughly entertained by her daughter’s reasoning, warmth spreading through her chest. She laughed, and her almond–shaped eyes curved into crescent moons.
Suddenly, Merida tensed, as if sensing something. She spun around abruptly, staring toward the bushes. “What is it?” Elara asked, glancing down at her.
Merida murmured to herself, “I feel like… There’s something there… Maybe it’s just my imagination!”
Just as Elara and Merida stepped onto the stairs, a white figure lunged at them from the hallway comer
“Mommy, watch out!”
