Chapter 274
Harvey’s expression darkened.
Levard saw through every thought running through his rabid “Xavier is your peer. Is it so difficult for the mighty Mr. Fisher to apologize to his own cousin?
By seniority, Xavier was indeed his cousin, but he was the same age as Bea
Moreover, Xavier was merely Leonard’s adopted son His as within the Fisher family was far beneath Bear’s
Being asked to apologize to Xavier Harvey simply couldn’t bring himself to do it.
Leonard’s voice tumed cold. “I won’t repeat myself.”
Ethel stepped forward “Leonand, what are you doing? Why are you suddenly making Harvey apologize to Xavier? Aren’t you afraid you’ll teach your son had manners?”
She realized her last words were inappropriate, so she deliberately lowered her voice. She was hoping Leonand, who always seemedubove petty disputes, wouldn’t take offense.
“Harvey, hold out your hand. Palm up.”
Leonard’s voice remained steady, carrying the weight of an elder’s authority.
A sense of foreboding crept up Harvey’s spine, yet an invisible force seemed to compel him to obey Leonant signaled to Oliver, who pulled out a wooden ruler and struck Harvey’s palm without hesitation.
A loud smack echoed through the hallway, slicing through the air like a whip Ethel shuddered at this.
Even Beau, who had been crying relentlessly in the hospital room, flinched. His sobs were abruptly silenced.
The spot where the ruler landed turned white for a brief moment before rapidly flashing red, swelling visibly.
Pain shot through Harvey’s palm, but the real agony settled in Ethel’s chest. Her lips quivered as she struggled to
form words.
“This___You’re…” She was too stunned to say more.
She knew Leonard had done this as a warning to her.
Seated upright in his wheelchair, Leonard’s posture was as unyielding as a pine tree.
“Your son disrespected Xavier, so I punished you. Your mother spoke out of turn, so you take the penalty”
Then, he turned to Ethel “Ethel, if you speak out of line again, I’ll strike Harvey’s mouth next.”
Ethel’s breathing turned shallow while sweat beaded on Harvey’s forehead
The pain in his palm spread like vines, threatening to burst through his skin.
Gritting his teeth, he suppressed his emotions and forced himself to speak. “I will make sure to discipline my mother and Beau properly. Uncle Leonard, please rest assured “
An hour later, Harvey stormed back into the Fisher residence. He rushed into the room where Elara had once lived. yanking open every drawer and cabinet she had used, pulling, everything out in a frenzy.
He found the schedules Elata had made for Beau and Merida, along
with personalized lesson plans and

assignments she had written for them.
There were also notebooks filled with her self–studied notes on child psychology and early childhood education- book after book that were all dedicated to their children.
Harvey flipped through one of the notebooks and saw unfamiliar symbols and formulas. Digging further, he unearthed several more notebooks, all filled with Melcinian writing
Although Harvey understood English, the words were highly technical and full of academic jargon. Using his phone to translate, he managed to decipher that the notes were about physics and chemistry, but the content remained beyond his comprehension.
Harvey quickly pulled up five years‘ worth of surveillance footage from the children’s room. That was when he saw it Elara feeding the kids while scribbling in her notebooks in whatever spare moment she had
A chilling realization hit him–after seven years of marriage, he didn’t know this woman at all.
He had assumed that Elara’s entire life revolved around raising the children and managing household chores, that she had nothing else going on.
Fast–forwarding through years of footage, the shifting glow of the computer screen cast flickering shadows over his increasingly dark expression,
It was always about the children and academics. And what about him?
As he continued watching, he discovered that the maids had been the ones ironing his suits and preparing bathwater. Elara had only ever checked on things briefly before he arrived home.
his
Harvey then accessed the kitchen footage–and what he saw made his expression turn even colder. Elara had been feeding him pre–packaged meals!
Yet, every meal for the children had been carefully prepared from scratch. Why did she treat him so differently?
At that moment, his phone rang. Before he could even speak, Beau’s weak, whimpering voice came through “Daddy, I want Mommy’s chicken noodle soup.”
