Chapter 301
Harvey glanced at the monitors surrounding him and shouted toward the voice receiver nearby, “Once I finish this bowl of soup, you’ll let my mother go, right?”
After he spoke, he waited for a long thue, but there was no response from Elara.
Harvey slowly bent down, his back arching as he lowered his head closer to the bowl of soup. He knew how undignified his posture must look, but he tried not to think about the humiliation of being recorded in high definition by the cameras.
He then stuck out his tongue and tasted the soup. As he swallowed the bits of noodles, his mind began to lose
control.
He practically buried half his face in the plastic bowl, and the soup was nearly gone within moments. At this point, was there any difference between him and Beau, who had once fought with stray cats over scraps of food?
Harvey buried his face in the plastic container, not wanting to lift it. He had been starved all day, and Elara had been merciless.
The small amount of soup was enough to keep him alive but far from enough to fill his stomach. He licked the disposable plastic bowl clean, leaving not a single drop of moisture on its surface.
After finishing the soup in such a pitiful state, Harvey raised his head and licked his lips. Without even a collar to wipe his mouth, this was all he could do now.
The warm chicken noodle soup settled in his stomach, and he felt his insides ease slightly. He straightened his back and leaned against the wall again.
After eating, drowsiness overtook him. His eyelids grew heavy, and Harvey blinked a few es before finally succumbing to sleep
Meanwhile, Ethel and her bodyguards stood inside the elevator when they noticed it had stopped midway. The elevator was stuck, and after a few seconds, one of the bodyguards, William Marshell, sensed something was
Wrong.
“Why did the elevator break down?” William asked.
He reached out and pressed the emergency button, but no one answered the call from the elevator’s communication system. Then, one of the bodyguards exclaimed, “Why does my phone have no signal?
The others quickly pulled out their phones, only to find that their devices were also without signal.
“The signal–blocking in this elevator is way too strong!” William muttered.
Now they were truly trapped, completely cut off from the outside world, unable to even make a call for help. Ethel took out her own phone. “Why is there no signal? How could this happen?”
She began to panic and hurried forward, pressing the emergency button several times, but the call function remained unresponsive.
“What a trashy building chosen by those country bumpkins How could the elevator just break down like this?” Ethel started banging on the elevator door. “Is anyone out here? Help! Get us out of here!”
Her fists pounded against the door, creating loud thuds.

William tried to calm her down. “Madam Fisher, It’s better to wait for rescue. The property management will notice the elevator malfunction soon. Banging on the door lee this might be dangerous.”
But Ethel didn’t stop. She hit the door even harder, making it rattle noisily. “If we don’t make some noise, how will anyone outside know we’re trapped here?”
As soon as she finished speaking, the entire elevator suddenly shook. Ethel screamed in fright and immediately hid in the arms of one of the bodyguards. The lights inside the elevator flickered a few times before going out completely, plunging them into darkness,
Ethel cried out in desperation, “What do we do now? Are we going to die here?”
Meanwhile, Elara took another elevator and left the scene. She turned to the bodyguard accompanying her and instructed, “Tomorrow at noon, send a few people disguised as repair workers to let them out.”
“Yes, Ms. Jones!”
A few days later, in the commercial building where Joss Tech was located, Abel invited all employees to a welcome banquet celebrating Elara’s appointment as vice president of the company.
Abel, accompanied by Niamh and Daphne, mingled with other executives and shareholders.
“Abel, why hasn’t your eldest daughter arrived yet?”
“Yes, where’s our guest of honor?” Other executives chimed in, curious about Elara’s absence.
Niamh suppressed the urge to smirk. “Could it be that Elara couldn’t convince Mr. Snap come with her?”
