Chapter 314
“Harvey has a fever,” said the bodyguard, Aiden Calhoun.
“Did you give him medicine?” Elara’s voice was indifferent
Aiden replied, “He refused to take it. When we tried to force–feed him, he bit my colleague’s hand.”
He added, “He’s demanding to see you.”
Aside from the second day after Harvey was locked up, when Elara had brought him food, she hadn’t gone to see the man since. Elara realized that beating him didn’t bring her any satisfaction.
Back when she watched Priscilla trample over Harold in front of her, she had wondered, “Does hitting someone really feel that good?”
It must have felt amazing, given how much Abel idolized violence. But after trying it on Harvey, Elara found it utterly dull.
She couldn’t derive any pleasure or satisfaction from trampling or bullying others. Even though Harvey was now a prisoner, she couldn’t be bothered to spare him a glance.
In fact, she found the stench emanating from him repulsive
Aiden told her, “These past few days, he hasn’t eaten the meals we’ve brought him. He keeps demanding the soup you brought him that day.”
“Even mental institutions couldn’t have harbored such a lunatic,” Elara cursed inwardly.
“His injuries have healed, right?”
“Yes,”
“And there’s no trace of them anymore?” Elara pressed for confirmation.
“None. Even with medical tools, it would be hard to detect any signs of his previous injuries.”
Over the past few days, Elara had instructed the bodyguards to loosen the handcuffs around his wrists slightly to help Harvey’s wounds heal faster.
Initially, the bodyguards were worried that Harvey might break free once the cuffs were loosened, increased patrols to prevent any chance of escape.
so they
But after several days of surveillance, they noticed Harvey made no attempt to free himself from the cuffs. The bodyguards assumed Harvey was too weak from hunger to even think about escaping.
Elara instructed him, “Knock him out, give him an injection, and hook him up to an IV. Then, let him go.”
Aiden responded respectfully, “Understood…”
Sweat dripped down Harvey’s forehead as his vision blurred. He stared wide–eyed at the bodyguard who was on the phone with Elara.
Before Aiden could hang up just after responding to Elara’s request, Harvey urgently asked, “When is she coming to see me?”
Aiden simply ignored him.

Harvey’s voice was hoarse as he shouted, “Tell her to come see me, and I’ll take the medicine!”
Alden let out a cold laugh. Even as a prisoner, the great Mr. Harvey Fisher was still trying to negotiate terms.
“Ms. Jones isn’t coming.”
Harvey froze, blurting out, “Why isn’t she coming?”
Elara hadn’t visited him in days. Why had she stopped bringing him food? What had she been busy with lately?
Or was it that Leonard and Finnegan had forbidden her from seeing him?
Another bodyguard stepped forward.
Harvey tensed. “What are you doing?”
The bodyguard raised his hand and delivered a sharp chop to Harvey’s neck. Pain shot through Harvey as he tried to fight off the dizziness, but it was overwhelming.
His eyes rolled back, and he passed out. Aiden then turned to his colleague. “Prepare the injection.”
When Harvey regained consciousness, he opened his eyes, only to be met with a blinding light that stung painfully. It had been a while since he had experienced such harsh brightness.
Harvey quickly shut his eyes, tears welling up and dampering his lashes. Suddenly, he jolted awake to the realization that he was lying in a bed.
He should have been confined to that room! Harvey immediately opened his eyes again and looked around, only to find himself in his own bedroom.
Was this a dream?
During his time in confinement, he had often dreamed of returning to this warm and peaceful room in the midst of hunger and cold.
Harvey sat up in bed and pulled up his sleeve, only to find no marks on his wrists.
He froze.
He quickly tore open his shirt and saw that his chest was flawless, without a single scar. All his injuries had vanished.
He rubbed his wrists, feeling a slight soreness that confirmed the reality of his ordeal–those days of being imprisoned by Elara had truly happened!
Harvey got out of bed and walked out of his room. Mary ran into him on his way out, and her tone was as casual as
ever.
“You’re awake, Mr. Fisher?”
Harvey asked, “How did I get back here?”
Mary replied, “You got drunk last night, and Hugo brought you home.”
Harvey blurted out, “I didn’t drink last night.”
Mary chuckled. “Mr. Fisher, did you black out? You were really drunk last night
“I made you peppermint tea. I’ll bring it to you right away.

Harvey frowned. “Did you see Hugo bring me back with your own eyes?”
“Yes,” Mary answered. “I even saw Hugo take you to your room.”
She blinked, looking slightly confused as she stared at Harvey. His questions this early in the morning struck her as odd. It wasn’t often that Harvey blacked out from drinking.
But then Mary remembered that for the past seven years, it had always been Elara who took care of Harvey when he came home late at night. It was only recently that Ethel had assigned her to the night shift.
Harvey ordered, “Tell Hugo to meet me in the study.”
He turned to head to the study but suddenly stopped. “What’s today’s date?”
Mary thought to herself that Harvey must have been really drunk–he couldn’t even remember the date.
“Today’s the 23rd.”
Harvey’s breath hitched, and he muttered, “I was locked up for seven days.”
“Huh?” Mary was puzzled, not understanding what Harvey meant.
Harvey looked at her. “I’ve been gone for seven days.”
Mary nodded. “You’ve been working hard, sir.”
He then asked, “Weren’t you curious about where I’d been for the past seven days?”
