“Who would’ve thought the elevator would break down shortly after I got in? I was stuck in there with those bodyguards all night…”
Ethel covered her face as she recounted her harrowing experience to her son. When the elevator doors finally opened, Ethel took a step forward and immediately wet herself. It was a scene she never wanted to relive.
After returning to the Fisher family, Ethel fired all the bodyguards who had been trapped in the elevator with her. She couldn’t bear to see them without being reminded of her humiliating ordeal at Spring Garden.
Mary brought over the freshly made chicken noodle soup. Harvey took a bite and frowned.
“Did you follow Elara’s recipe?” Harvey asked.

Mary quickly nodded. “Yes, we followed Ms. Jones‘ instructions precisely–not an ounce more, not an ounce less.” But even though the Fisher family’s cook strictly adhered to Elara’s notes, the chicken noodle soup
till couldn’t replicate the taste Harvey remembered. Yet he didn’t put down the spoon. He kept eating, one bite after another. Ethel watched her son with a complicated expression, her mouth hanging open in shock. To Ethel, Harvey eating chicken noodle soup first thing in the morning was no different from eating pig slop in public!
“Harvey, why are you eating that?”
The man finished the bowl until it was empty. He then said “From today on, every meal in this house will be prepared according to Elara’s recipes.”
Ethel’s jaw dropped. “Why would you-
“I’m just more used to her cooking,” Harvey said firmly, leaving no room for argument.
Ethel stared at him wide–eyed, as if her son had been possessed. After that, Harvey got up and left.
Ethel sat at the dining table in stunned silence for half a minute before pulling out her phone to call a private investigator she trusted.
“Go find out if my son has been in contact with Elara recently!”
Late at night, in a private room at an exclusive club, Harvey sat on the sofa with his legs spread apart, slamming the empty glass down on the coffee table.
“Pour!”
At his command, a friend who was drinking with him picked up the whiskey bottle and refilled the glass halfway.
“Harvey, you’ve finished the entire bottle of whiskey!”
Someone asked, “What’s going on with you? Did you get dumped or something?”
Harvey tilted his head back and downed the whiskey in one go, his sharp Adam’s apple bobbing. When he set the glass down again, his dark eyes were shadowed with a brooding intensity.
He smirked. “Dumped? Why would you even assume that?”
Another person chimed in, “The last time you drank like this was the day you got divorced.”

Before the words even finished, someone else elbowed the speaker. Divorce was a sore subject for Harvey. Anyone who brought it up would be met with his icy glare.
Seeing Harvey’s expression darken, the others quickly tried to smooth things over. “Harvey didn’t drink this much last time! Divorce means nothing to him!”
Someone else added, “But Harvey doesn’t seem like the type to get worked up over business matters. If anything, work challenges just fuel his competitive spirit
The entire bottle of whiskey was gone. Harvey set the glass on the coffee table, his long fingers spinning it as the unmelted ice cubes clinked against the sides, creating a pleasant sound.
Just then, the door to the private room opened, and someone walked in.
The sharp sound of stiletto heels echoed on the marble floor.
When the pair of black, red–soled high heels–identical to the ones Elara used to wear–appeared in front of him, Harvey’s eyes widened in shock!
