Cassie smoothed out the wrinkles in her blouse. To qualify for the position of executive secretary, she had spent thousands of dollars on this tailored business suit.
“Ms. Elara said that since you’ve taken on the role of assistant to the vice president, you should act the part. It’s work hours now–stop wandering around the company like you used to!”
Niamh narrowed her eyes, glaring at the secretary who dared to challenge her. She turned around and kicked over a chair and a vase in the hallway.
Niamh shot a fierce look at Cassie. “Do you want to end up like this vase?”
With that, she kicked the vase toward the wall, and it shattered on impact. Niamh’s gaze grew even more defiant as she stared at the secretary.
Cassie remained calm, completely unfazed by Niamh’s intimidation. She pulled out her phone and said to Niamh, “Ms. Elara said that if you lose your temper and damage company property, you’ll have to pay triple the cost.
“If you destroy more than three items, I’ll call the police. Since you’ve just been released from detention, if you end up back in custody this time, the penalties will be much harsher!
“Ms. Elara also asked me to relay a message to you; If you end up in custody again this time, who knows if Mr. Harvey Fisher will be as generous in offering you help as he was before.”
Niamh’s heart felt as if it had been struck by a bullet. Elara had anticipated her every move.
Her breathing tightened, and her chest heaved violently. She hadn’t even seen Elara’s face, yet she had been thoroughly mocked by her.
“You want me to pay? Ha! Let me tell you, this whole company belongs to my family! What’s wrong with me smashing a vase in my own home?”
Cassie replied calmly, “Ms. Elara also said that if you refuse to pay triple for the damages, the cost will be deducted from Mr. Jones‘ account.
“Since the entire company belongs to your family, Ms. Niamh, smashing a vase worth 200 grand means Mr. Jones will pay 600 grand in compensation. That seems fair, doesnt it?”
Niamh couldn’t stand anyone mentioning Abel in front of her these days. A couple of nights ago, while she was at a bar, someone casually said, “I think I just saw Mr. Jones. And that one sentence sent Niamh scrambling under the table in fear.
“No! You can’t deduct the money from my dad’s account! Niamh’s voice trembled.
After the scene she caused at Elara’s induction ceremony, Abel had kicked her out of the Jones residence.
In the past, Niamh had sweet–talked Abel into buying her apartment. But now, in his anger, Abel wouldn’t even let her stay on the property that was already in her name.
If the finance department deducted 600 thousand dollars from Abel’s account, Niamh had a feeling Abel would kill her just the thought of it made Niamh shiver uncontrollably.
She never imagined that in front of Elara, she’d feel like an ant that could be crushed at any moment!
Niamh glared venomously In the direction of the CEO’s office. One day, she would drag Elara down from her high pedestal and watch her shatter into pieces!

“I just wanted to see my sister and ask her what I, as the assistant to the vice president, should be doing.”
Cassie replied, “In half an hour, there’s a routine meeting in Conference Room 1. Go clean the room first, wipe down the tables, and then go downstairs to buy 20 cups of coffee…”
Cassic then rattled off a dozen tasks for Niamh before adding, “If you make any mistakes, your salary will be docked threefold. If your account doesn’t have enough funds, the finance department will report the losses to Mr. Jones.”
Niamh’s legs went weak. She truly understood what it meant to shoot one’s own foot now. It was her idea to join Joss Tech as Elara’s assistant.
She thought that by becoming an assistant, she could create endless trouble for Elara. But before she could even make a move, Elara had already struck first.
Half an hour later, Elara walked into the conference room and saw Harvey and Abel sitting inside.
Her tone was indifférent. “This meeting is an internal Jones Group matter. Please, all unrelated personnel leave.”
Abel spoke up. “Elara, Harvey wants to acquire Joss Tech.”
