The moment Harvey saw Elara preparing to leave with Theodore, a sense of loss gripped him like an invisible hand, pulling him toward an abyss. He felt as though he was on the verge of falling into a bottomless pit.
“Elara!” Harvey called out, his voice cutting through the thick, heavy air.
His breathing grew labored, his chest was heaving violently and his face turned as pale as a sheet of paper.
give you another chance! Let’s make everything go back to the way it was. You’ll still be my wife and Beau’s mother. I can inject funds into Joss Tech to keep it running!
“I just want everything to return to how it used to be!”
Harvey’s voice was cold, but with every word he spoke, he felt his strength draining away. His posture remained proud and aloof, but his eyes betrayed fear and despair.
He was like a man standing on the edge of a cliff, insisting he was fine, even as he teetered on the brink of collapse.
Elara turned to look at him. Her expression was cold and indifferent, tinged with unmistakable annoyance as she asked, “Harvey, do you regret it now?”
The man she addressed pressed his lips together tightly, refusing to answer.
Elara continued, “I don’t regret being your wife or Beau’s mother, and I don’t regret leaving it all behind. I won’t revolve around you anymore, so I’ll never look back!”
Theodore reached out, his long, strong fingers intertwining with Elara’s. Harvey’s pupils contracted as he saw their hands clasped together.
At that moment, her fingers entwined with another man’s were the perfect response to Harvey.
Suddenly, Elara remembered something. She stopped in he tracks but didn’t turn around. Instead, she called out Harvey’s name.
The man’s heart leaped, as if pulled by an invisible thread. He took two hurried steps forward at the sound of her voice.
“Once, after countless disappointments, I told myself something. Now, I’ll give those words back to you: knocking on a door that refuses to open for you is just impolite.”
Elara strode forward confidently, while Theodore turned back to glance at Harvey and Finnegan, who stood frozen in place.
A triumphant smile curled at the corners of his lips. It was the first time he had seen Harvey wear such an ugly expression.
From initially looking down on Elara with disdain, Harvey had now been reduced to pleading with her. The thought only deepened Theodore’s contempt and mockery toward him.
If only he had known better back then, why did he act the way he did?
Theodore opened the passenger door for Elara. As she settled into the seat, he reluctantly let go of her hand, their fingers slipping apart. The softness of her skin lingered in has grasp, and Theodore felt a pang of loss as he looked
down at her.
Elara glanced up, meeting his gaze, and Theodore responded with a tender, indulgent smile. It was one that seemed to hold endless patience and affection for her. He walked around the car and took his place in the driver’s
seat.

Elara spoke in a businesslike tone, “Finn is just concerned about your health, given the potential changes in our partnership.”
“I understand. Next time I plan something, I’ll make sure to keep your brother in the loop,” Theodore replied smoothly.
Inside the enclosed space, Elara’s cheeks warmed again as she asked, “What else are you planning to do?”
“Are you that curious about my body?” Theodore’s gaze shifted toward her, his eyes more captivating than a fox’s.
Elara quickly averted her eyes. “You should still take better care of yourself!”
Her words seemed to delight him, and his lips curled into a wider grin “Hmm, I’m happy Elara Jones cares about me!”
Elara hastily pressed the air conditioning button, letting the cool breeze blow against her face. Meanwhile, Theodore’s smile only grew more pronounced.

She turned her gaze to the window, where Harvey still stood motionless. Elara knew Harvey all to…
set his mind on something, he would stop at nothing to achieve it.
“Theodore,” she began, her voice firm, “I want you to make it public that Harvey stole your medical records.”
Through the car window, her sharp, piercing eyes locked onto Harvey in the distance. A cold, ruthless aura burned in her gaze.
“I want Harvey Fisher’s reputation to suffer!”
