“You were taken back by the Jones family, which made it impossible for Priscilla to adopt you or become your guardian legally. Later, when she found out you got married… She lost all interest in you.”
Elara hadn’t expected something like this to be happening behind the scenes abroad.
“Who was stopping Priscilla from adopting me?” she asked
Lesley shook her head. “To this day, even she hasn’t figured it out.”
There was a rare seriousness in Lesley’s usually clear gaze. I’ve always felt like whoever it was, they were protecting you,
Elara thought so, too. “Did you ever tell Priscilla about my past?”
Lesley shook her head again, this time without hesitation. She’s tried to probe and has asked me about you in roundabout ways, but I never told her a thing. I made sure she believed that I cut ties with you completely when I moved to Melcina.”
Elara thought for a moment. “Priscilla must have had her eye on me long before that. She must have done her own digging. She probably knows things about me that even you don’t.”
But she pushed those thoughts aside and shifted the conversation. “You came to the school because you were worried Priscilla might come after me?”
“As soon as I got back to Capitol, I heard about you making Quantum Tech lose over a hundred million. Then I found out Priscilla came to the school personally to track you down. She’s ruthless–if someone crosses her, she won’t hesitate to flip the table.
“I was afraid she might actually come at you.”
Elara looked relaxed, a light smile playing on her lips. “I’m worth way too much for her to get rid of that easily.” She reached out and patted Lesley reassuringly. “Don’t worry. I’ve already struck a deal with her.” Lesley frowned. “What kind of deal?”
Elara smiled. “I took full control of Quantum Tech. Priscilla is partnering with me, and in the first quarter alone, she’ll be investing two billion dollars. On top of that, 100% of the company’s profits will go to me.”
Lesley sucked in a sharp breath. “She agreed to that?”
Elara nodded. “Yeah.”
“How?” Lesley still couldn’t believe it. These terms completely shattered everything she thought she knew about Priscilla.
Elara explained simply, “If she didn’t agree, Quantum Tech’s project with the Department of Energy would fall apart, and she’d lose even more.”
Lesley still felt uneasy. “You bled her dry on this deal. Knowing Priscilla, she’ll bide her time and make you pay back twofold.”
But Elara just chuckled, clearly amused.
“The moment she came to me, I knew this wouldn’t be the last battle between us. Facing off against someone like her is an honor. Besides, I have you and my brother backingne.
“Every round I go against her will make me stronger. Priscilla is the best kind of boss battle for leveling up.

Chapter 349
Lesley listened, feeling the pounding of her own heartbeat in her chest.
“You and Priscilla,” she mused, “in some ways, you’re actually a lot alike.”
Elara grinned. “I need to take Merida to the school’s art department.”
She explained what had happened to Merida earlier, and Lesley’s expression darkened. “What kind of teacher does that? Did that dance instructor take a bribe from Rosalie?
Elara shrugged. “It doesn’t matter if she did or not. Nothing’s going to stop Merida from getting on that stage.” Lesley huffed. “I’m coming with you.”
Merida reached out, grabbing Lesley’s hand with one of her own and Elara’s with the o
other.
The three of them entered the school’s administration building and stepped into the elevator.
As the elevator began ascending, it suddenly jolted violently
Elara instinctively crouched down, wrapping her arms protectively around Merida. Lesley immediately lunged, shielding both of them with her body.
The elevator only shook for a moment before stopping at a mid–level floor.
Lesley quickly got up and pressed the door open button.
She let out a quiet breath of relief when the doors slid open. She placed a hand on Elara’s shoulder and gently guided her and Merida out of the elevator.
But the moment they stepped out, they saw Harvey standing right before them. He was dressed sharply in a tailored suit. His expression was as cold and sharp as ever. He hadn’t expected to run into Elara here, of all places.
But the second his gaze landed on Lesley’s arm draped around Elara’s shoulders, his eyes narrowed dangerously.
And when he realized that the person touching Elara was Lesley, a wave of fury surged through him.
Without a word, he stepped forward and grabbed Lesley’s arm.
