To emphasize his role and make his daughter feel the power of having a father, Harvey persisted.
“I can get you a professional team from. If you want to perform a dance, Daddy will connect you with top dancers from around the world. Merida, no matter what, you’re my daughter, and I want you to rely on me as much as you need!”
Merida looked momentarily stunned. In her memory, Harvey had never shown her this much concern before. For a moment, his sudden care left her feeling overwhelmed.
She listened as Harvey said, “Merida, I hope you can try to lean on me. I know I’ve neglected you before, but you’re only five. I hope it’s not too late for me to make it up to you!”
Merida couldn’t tell how much of what Harvey said was genuine, nor could she analyze his underlying intentions.
She simply responded to him based on her instincts and feelings. “All I want is for Mr. Harvey not to create obstacles for me and Mommy.”
Harvey immediately denied it. “Why would I create obstacles for you…‘

Merida continued, “But it seems like you don’t like Lesley and you’re stopping them from being together.”
Harvey felt as if a knife had been plunged into his chest, the taste of blood filling his mouth.
He almost blurted out, “Of course, I’m against them being together!”
How could he not oppose another man appearing by Elara’s side, especially when Lesley was her “true love“?
The words “true love” were like a seed planted in Harvey’s heart, quickly taking root and sprouting countless thorns that threatened to pierce through it. Harvey felt his heart teetering precariously in his chest.
His own daughter, connected to him by blood, actually supported Elara being with Lesley! How infuriating!
Harvey’s expression turned serious, and he spoke firmly, “Your mommy already has a boyfriend. This ‘Lesley‘ you’re talking about, staying at your mommy’s house and sleeping with her–that’s cheating behavior!”
Harvey didn’t want to go into too much detail about Elara’s romantic life with his daughter. He said earnestly,‘ Daddy is just worried that your mommy might set a bad example for you.”
Elara and Lesley exchanged a glance. Lesley pressed her lips together, her chest shaking as she struggled to hold back her laughter.
Elara shrugged at Lesley as if to say, “He’s such an idiot!”
Lesley was about to burst out laughing. She quickly turned around, hugged Elara, and buried her face in Elara’s shoulder.
Harvey, noticing Lesley’s actions, grew even more displeased. He snapped coldly. “What the hell are you two doing?
“Elara Jones! As Merida’s guardian, you should be setting a better example for her!”
Merida stood in front of Harvey, blinking at him with a confused expression. Her long, thick lashes fluttered like
little brushes.
How is Mommy setting a bad example for me?”
Harvey’s tone was stern. “What if you grow up and start doing the same thing–having a boyfriend on the surface while secretly sleeping with your childhood friend? Is that proper behavior?”

Harvey glared at Elara in frustration. “See? You’ve already influenced Merida!”
Merida said, “Mr. Harvey, haven’t you always been doing the same thing?
“You slept with Niamh, and Mommy sleeps with Lesley. If this is so wrong; then why have you been doing it all along?”
