Elara sensed something was wrong. She lifted her head and looked toward Theodore. His smile had turned razor- sharp, unreadable. No one could tell what he was thinking at that moment.
Then, Theodore raised the speech folder in his hand and showed everyone the blank pages inside.
“I have no idea which bastard handed me an empty speech folder,” he said coolly.
Gasps rippled through the guests seated below.
“How could the folder be blank?”
“Who would pull something like that?”
“This is Joss Tech’s turf. Could someone from Joss Tech have done something this childish, hoping to provoke Mr. Snapp?”
Several people shifted their gaze toward Elara, their expressions now laced with suspicion.
Theodore placed both hands firmly on the table and leaned forward, casting his gaze downward toward Harvey, who sat in the first row.
“Whoever tried to trip me up during this signing ceremony clearly doesn’t want Snapp Group to successfully acquire Joss Tech,” he declared.
Elara reached for the blank speech folder on the table. Rising from her seat, she walked straight to Harvey and stood before him.
“Give me Theodore’s speech folder.”
The moment she spoke, murmurs spread through the crowd. The business elites seated beside and behind Harvey could no longer sit still
“Mr. Fisher was the one who swapped out Mr. Snapp’s speech folder?”
“No way! Mr. Fisher would never stoop to something so childish!”
Gasps erupted from the audience. From where he stood, Theodore watched Elara’s back as she confronted Harvey -it felt like a shot of adrenaline surging through his chest
He tilted his head, arched a brow, and offered Harvey a cold taunting smile. He probably didn’t expect this, did he? Harvey had tampered with the speech folder, but Elara stood up for him.
As he was seated, Harvey lifted his chin to meet Elara’s gaze. Looking up at her from this angle, he realized something strange: every time he looked at Elara like this, he felt paralyzed.
Even he couldn’t explain it, but he actually enjoyed being in the lower position, looking up at his ex–wife. The more dominant Elara was, the more his blood stirred.
Harvey’s eyes turned hazy, momentarily forgetting why Elara now stood before him with such fury. When Harvey didn’t respond, Elara’s voice sharpened.
“Harvey! Don’t make me repeat myself.”
“You’re slandering Harvey!” A shrill female voice rang out from the back, snapping Harvey out of his daze.
He recognized the voice instantly. He even frowned slightly without turning around.
Niamh had stormed in, her thick–soled ankle boots striking the floor with heavy steps. She looked ready to defend

She had been hiding just outside the hall, quietly watching the signing between Elara and Theodore without revealing herself.
Despite the scandal Abel had stirred up, it hadn’t affected her position. As the assistant to the VP, she still had free access to the Jones family’s company.
Niamh had originally planned to use her assistant role to stir trouble for Elara, hoping to disrupt her work behind the scenes. But Elara never gave her the slightest opening.
Since Abel and Harvey had arranged for Niamh to serve as her assistant, Elara simply assigned her to bring tea and water to the other managers.
Nonetheless, Niamh ended up spilling water on their contracts, killing the plant in one of their offices, and infuriating the managers to the point that they all went to Abel to complain.
Abel had already been annoyed with Niamh, and now the complaints gave him just the excuse he needed to discipline her.
To avoid being beaten half to death by Abel, Niamh was forced to swallow her pride and lie low at the company. So, when the acquisition ceremony began, she didn’t dare show her face around Elara.
She feared Elara would assign her another task. If she messed it up, Abel would hunt her down no matter where she tried to hide.
But when Niamh saw Harvey getting reprimanded by Elara, she couldn’t hold back any longer. As soon as Elara turned her fire on Harvey, Niamh jumped out in his defense
“Elara! Don’t you think you’re going too far? There’s no way Harvey would do something so childish and tasteless!, Do you even have proof that he switched the speech folder?”
“I do,” Elara replied immediately.
Harvey finally came to his senses. “You’re really willing to burn bridges with me in front of all these people–jus for Theodore Snapp?”
Elara let out a sharp laugh. “Harvey, that bridge burned a long time ago.”
He stared at her, stunned.

Elara met his gaze and added coldly, “Now I’m just making sure there’s nothing left but ashes.”
She tilted her chin and ordered her assistant, “Play the surveillance footage!”
The large screen behind Theodore lit up, and everyone saw the footage clearly. Someone appeared, holding a different speech folder, and swapped it with the one already sitting on the table
