Chapter 369
When Harvey heard what Theodore said, his entire face twisted in fury. Every breath sent a dull throb through his chest and ribs.
That man, who was now practically draped over Elara, had just tried to break his fingers moments ago! And now he was holding that wine–stained brooch like some tragic hero, playing the victim in front of Elara.
It was outrageous!
“Elara! Don’t let him fool you!” Harvey shouted hoarsely, the metallic taste of blood thick in his mouth.
He clutched his abdomen, bearing a pain that felt like thousands of ants gnawing at his insides. Elara glanced at the shattered glass on the floor. The warmth had vanished completely from her eyes.
“The red wine on Theodore. You poured it on him!” She wasn’t asking. She was stating a fact, a charge.
Harvey pressed his lips together. After swallowing the blood in his throat, he opened his mouth and said, “It was an accident.”
Theodore nodded gently, looking as fragile as a delicate white flower. “Mm. Mr. Fisher didn’t mean it. Elara, don’t be upset with him because of me.”
Watching Theodore act like this made Harvey’s teeth ache with rage. This bastard–how was he this good at acting! Had Theodore been secretly taking acting classes behind everyone’s back?
“Elara, he’s putting on an act–he’s faking it! You didn’t see what he did to me!
“He punched me! He tried to break my ribs and snap my fingers! Ahem-”
Heat surged through Harvey’s chest, wild and uncontainable. Every cough made his body jolt like an earthquake was shaking him apart.
Meanwhile, Theodore lowered his eyes and gazed at the peacock–shaped brooch in his palm. A faint flush bloomed at the corners of his eyes, glistening with unshed tears.
His nose was slightly pink. He sniffled, voice thick and a little stuffy, “I suppose Mr. Fisher can say whatever he wants.”
Theodore gently wiped the surface of the brooch with his sleeve, trying to soak up the wine stains. Harvey lifted his head and glanced toward the security camera.
Damn it!
He had asked Niamh to shut off the surveillance just so he could trap Theodore. If the cameras had been running, Elara would’ve seen Theodore’s true nature by now!
Veins bulged at Harvey’s temple in fury. He screamed, “Theodore! You had the guts to hit me, so why don’t you have the guts to admit it?”
Theodore looked pitifully at Elara.
“Ldidn’t..” he dragged out the last syllable just enough to make Harvey want to explode.
Harvey clutched at the fabric over his chest. “The proof’s right here–on me!”
Now he understood why Theodore had almed only for his torso instead of punching him in the face. It was all calculated so Elara wouldn’t notice any visible bruises on his face.
What a manipulative bastard!

Harvey reached to pull up his shirt, but froze. There were over ten people standing behind Elara, including a few reporters. If he stripped in public just to show the bruises Theodore left, how was he supposed to hold his head up again in high society?
With a stiff expression, Harvey let go of his shirt and smoothed it down again. He couldn’t let all these people think he was some weakling who couldn’t even defend himself against Theodore.
But he was willing to show his wounds–only to Elara. Lowering his voice, Harvey said, “Elara. “‘m not comfortable undressing in front of everyone.
“Let’s go somewhere private, I’ll show you what Theodore did to me.”
Before the words had even settled in the air, Theodore’s lips curved into a mocking smirk.
“Heh. Harvey Fisher, what the hell are you implying? Trying to seduce my girlfriend with your bruised–up body, right in front of me the actual boyfriend?
“You’re such a manwhore!”
