Chapter 382
Whispers rippled through the crowd as guests exchanged lajowing glances.
“Everyone in the Capitol knows Niamh’s obsessed with Mr. Fisher. She probably saw this public event as her last chance to force his hand!
“She gambled that Mr. Fisher would quietly submit to save face, never expecting we’d stand his ground so firmly!”
“What an idiot,” someone scoffed. “If Mr. Fisher wanted her, her sister would never have become Mrs. Fisher in the first place!”
Elara motioned to several Jones Group staff members. “Take Niamh downstairs. The ambulance should be here by now.”
As employees lifted Niamh’s unconscious body, her disheveled clothes barely covered her. Her head lolled to one side, lips still curved in a dreamy smile.
The guests recoiled, their expressions dripping with disdain.
“Mr. Fisher.” Elara’s voice carried cold precision.
Harvey’s eyes instantly brightened at her address, hope flaring despite everything.
“You should accompany the ambulance to the hospital as well.”
The dismissal couldn’t be clearer. She’d never invited him to Joss Tech’s acquisition ceremony in the first place.
“I won’t share any vehicle with Niamh!” Harvey protested,
The crowd murmured understanding. After all, once bitten, twice shy.
Turning back to Elara, Harvey requested, “Then perhaps Ms. Jones could locate the key for these handcuffs?”
Elara’s response chilled the air. “Then, please wait in another lounge, Mr. Fisher.”
Harvey sat on the sofa in another lounge when Cassie entered.
“Mr. Fisher, I found the key.”
Cassie carefully unlocked the handcuffs, sliding them off Harvey’s wrists while avoiding his wounds as much as possible.
Harvey spoke up, “I want to talk to Elara alone.”
Cassie glanced at his injuries in surprise. “Mr. Fisher, your bands are in terrible condition. Doesn’t it hurt?”
Sweat glistened on Harvey’s pale face as he said, “Let me see Elara!”
Seeing his insistence, Cassie replied, “Ms. Jones said you should go to the hospital immediately. She mentioned there’s nothing left to discuss between you.”
Elara had anticipated Harvey would try to speak with her privately–and made it clear she wanted no further conversation. Hence, Harvey stood and walked out.
The assistant remained frozen, staring at the dark red stains soaking Harvey’s shirt cufts. The sight was horrifying

Not far down the hall, Harvey spotted Elara on a phone call.
“If Niamh wakes up, tell her exactly what Harvey said in front of everyone,” she instructed calmly. “…Yes, if she causes trouble, let her take it up with Harvey.”
The one who truly ruined Niamh wasn’t Elara–it was Harvey himself.
Hanging up, Elara turned and noticed Harvey standing there. But she immediately averted her gaze as if he were invisible. When she moved to leave, Harvey stepped forward.
“Aren’t you going to thank me for covering this up for you?
Elara laughed at his words.
“You pinned everything on Niamh to save yourself. Or have you changed your mind? Should I tell everyone what you and Niamh originally planned?”
bribed.”
Only then did she look at him, adding coldly, “I have proof of every employee you Her warning was clear. She’d already spared him once, so he shouldn’t push his luck. Harvey pressed, “Then why not expose me? Don’t you want to destroy me?” Was there still some lingering sentiment in her heart? Was that why she held back?
