Chapter 388
Beau was laying on the bed. His large, pitch–black pupils occupied most of his eye sockets, leaving only tiny whites that emitted a faint blue glow in the dim room.
Harvey opened his mouth, only to feel as if someone had stuffed a wad of paper vn his throat. His voice caught abruptly. Yet Beau’s gaze was still brimming with longing and expectation.
The boy tightened his grip on Harvey’s sleeve.
“She already divorced me…” Harvey said slowly.
How could he possibly reconcile with Elara? He would never return to what he’d left behind. After all, when they signed the divorce papers, he declared Elara would be the one begging him!
When they obtained the divorce certificate, the thought of torning back never crossed his mind! Even if Elara had pleaded with him, it would still be impossible!
Yet for Beau’s sake, Harvey decided to make his greatest concession.
“If your mother comes begging for reconciliation, I’ll consider it.” As he spoke these words, Harvey clenched his fist the statement seemed more for himself than anyone else.
But Beau remained unsatisfied. His voice turned pleading, “Mommy doesn’t want me anymore. She doesn’t want you either. How could she possibly come asking to get back together?”
He clung to Harvey’s sleeve, refusing to let go.
“Daddy, y
you po
go beg Mommy, okay? Ask for her forgiveness! Plead for her to come back!”
In his eyes, Harvey could accomplish anything. Beau knew he couldn’t persuade Elara himself, but he firmly believed Harvey possessed that capability.
“Daddy, if you just open your mouth and beg for Mommy’s forgiveness, she’ll remarry you!”
Harvey’s voice turned frosty. “What exactly have I done wrong that requires begging for her forgiveness?”
Beau’s round eyes widened. “Mommy left you because you were so, so nice to Niamh!”
A surge of blood rushed to Harvey’s throat. “There was never anything between me and Niamh! No crossing of lines!
“She was the one being paranoid! She was the one constantly doubting me!”
Tears welled up in Beau’s eyes. “You’re in the wrong! You kept hurting Mommy over and over!”
His crying escalated into wails. “Wah! I want Mommy to tell me bedtime stories! 1 want Mommy to sleep beside mel
“Ever since she left, I keep waking up at night thinking she abandoned me! I want Mommy’s cooking! I need Mommy to help with homework! I can’t live without Mommy!”
Harvey massaged his temples against the noise. “If you really want a mommy, I’ll find you a new one!”
His words carried more threat than comfort.
Beau froze mid–sob. “I only want my old mommy…”
His small body trembled violently as he shook his head. “Na new mommy! Never!”

Chapter 388
Harvey’s voice turned to ice. “Stop being unreasonable! Don’t you remember telling Elara to her face that you wanted a new mommy? It’s too late for regrets now!”
Fat tears plopped onto the sheets as Beau bit his quivering Up, whimpering like a wounded animal.
Harvey’s expression hardened into something merciless. “The reason she divor ne was because you broke her heart! You were the final straw that destroyed our marriage”
The accusation hung like a guillotine. Beau stiffened as if he were struck.
Harvey’s words crushed him like boulders. He curled into a fetal position beneath the blankets, shaking uncontrollably.
