Chapter 413
Xavier’s body collapsed like a sandbag, hitting the floor with a dull thud. His eyes remained shut, face pale as frost -wilted grass, as all of his vitality was drained away.
The room fell deathly silent. Beau’s hands trembled around the rod, his childish features flashing with a maturity and ruthlessness far beyond his years. The Fisher family’s innate selfishness and coldness ran deep in his bones. Xavier lay motionless on the ground, frozen in time’s crevice. It was a heartbreaking sight.
Yet Beau’s pitch–black eyes resembled bottomless abysses. Like a child untouched by moral understanding, he showed no remorse for his actions.
Setting down the rod, Beau reached for Xavier’s wristwatch.
While they were friends, Xavier had shared a secret with Beau. His watch contained satellite tracking, but he’d modified it for when he wanted to disappear.
Beau pressed the specific button Xavier had shown him–the one that disabled satellite tracking, making him invisible to Fisher family guards.
After tossing the watch aside, Beau dragged Xavier’s unconscious body deeper into the room. With clumsy effort, he bound Xavier’s limbs with a rope.
Staring at his handiwork, Beau’s face whitened. His bloodless lips quivered.
He knew exactly what he was doing–and precisely what consequences awaited him. That awareness fueled his terror. But not doing this would cost him far more!
“I won’t let you steal Mommy away!” The words sounded more like a desperate mantra than a threat.
“I’ve already lost Mommy once! Do you know how much that hurts? How dare you try to take her from me!”
Beau struggled to push Xavier into the cabinet. His injured leg hadn’t fully healed yet–walking felt like rusted nails grinding inside his kneecap.
The physical pain was one thing; he could technically walk short distances now. But the agony twisted his gait into something unnatural.
Rather than endure mocking stares, Beau chose the wheelchair. His pride was keeping him from limping in public.
Now gasping for breath, he heaved the metal cabinet shut then froze at a sound behind him. His head snapped toward the noise.
Meanwhile, Xavier’s bodyguards emerged from searching other rooms.
“Where’s Mr. Xavier?” They scanned the empty hallway, realizing their charge had vanished.
“Mr. Xavier!” Their shouts echoed as they stormed through each room.
One guard flung open a door to find nothing but vacant space. “Mr. Xavier? Where are you?”
Meanwhile, Beau had hidden in another cabinet nearby, knees drawn to his chest. Hearing the search party, he instinctively held his breath.
“This makes no sense–where could he have gone?”
“How did he disappear so quickly?”
Chapter 413
The guards‘ faces tightened as they processed Xavier’s dis surveillance camera.
“I’ll check the footage!”
Just then, a piercing alarm blared through the auditorium into instant panic.
