Chapter 45
At the entrance of the classroom, a dozen bodyguards surrounded Finnegan. Standing at the foot of the steps, Harvey exuded an imposing aura, looking at Finnegan as if he were nothing more than an insignificant ant beneath his feet.
“Bambi, come here. You’re coming home with me,” Harvey commanded sternly. He had already lost patience when Bambi hesitated and moved toward Finnegan instead
Bambi shook her head at Harvey. “I want to go home with Uncle Finn.”
Harvey let out a cold, dismissive laugh. “And where exactly is he taking you? Does he even have a home? Bambi, if you go with him, you’ll be sleeping on the streets!”
“Mommy!” Bambi’s voice rang out as Elara appeared.
Bambi waved excitedly upon seeing her mother, but with Harvey’s bodyguards blocking the way, she couldn’t run to her.
“Mommy!”
Elara’s heart ached with guilt. “Mommy got delayed. I’m so sorry, Bambi. I promise this will never happen again.” Bambi, ever understanding, reassured her, “I know, Mommy! You had something important to do, and it’s something that could change your life! I won’t hold you back.”
But when Harvey heard this, the words took on an entirely different meaning.
What could possibly be more important than picking up her daughter? What could she be doing that required her to be away from Bambi? How important was it that it could change her life?
His gaze locked onto the figure standing behind Elara.
Theodore?
A surge of fury flared in Harvey’s eyes. Elara had left with Theodore, and the two of them had rushed here together at this late hour!
“We haven’t even finalized the divorce, Elara Jones!”
Anger boiled in Harvey’s chest. “Are you truly that desperate?”
“I’m desperate for you to disappear from my life! Harvey Fisher, we’re divorced. Could you at least behave like a dead man and stay out of my way?”
This man had almost caused her to miss the math competition!
“So, you’ve already found a new home!” Harvey sneered.
Elara met his gaze head–on. “Of course, I’ve secured a place to live. If you had any conscience, you’d stop making things difficult for your daughter.”
Did he really think that by kicking her and Bambi out of Azure Shores, they’d be left homeless? Until she moved into a permanent home, there were plenty of hotels in the city.
Harvey’s expression darkened, and the temperature around him seemed to drop.
His gaze burned as he took in the sight of Elara standing side by side with Theodore. The sight stung like a thorn in his eyes.

“Take her!” He ordered. “Bring my daughter back!”
The bodyguards immediately charged forward.

“Finn! Don’t touch them!” Elara shouted, realizing that if nnegan fought back to protect Bambi, Harvey would use it as an excuse to throw him in jail.
“Let Bambi handle it!” she called out. “She can take care of herself!”
Bambi moved like a small, determined battering ram. The bodyguards, all towering over her, hesitated to use force against a child.
One of them lost his balance and toppled to the ground as Bambi charged straight into him.
“What’s going on over there?” Beau noticed that over a dozen bodyguards were trying to take hold of Bambi. Niamh stood behind him and whispered, “Beau, if you take Bambi down, your father will be so proud of you.” Beau’s eyes lit up with excitement, but he hesitated almost immediately. “Bambi is really strong! I can’t beat her!” “But you have your crossbow now,” Niamh reminded him, her heart pounding with excitement. “You’re an unbeatable little sharpshooter!”
Beau gripped the mechanical crossbow and squinted one eye, taking his aim.
He had never been able to overpower Bambi before. But now, things were different.
“Bambi! Watch this!”
He pulled the trigger, and the metal arrow shot forward.
Elara, focused entirely on Bambi, suddenly felt a chill at the back of her head. She turned just in time to see Beau holding the crossbow.
Her face turned ashen. She whipped around–only to see Theodore collapsing onto the ground while holding Bambi.
A sharp metal arrow was embedded in Theodore’s back, with only the feathered end still visible above his torn shirt.
His face quickly drained of color, and his brows furrowed in pain.
That was so close! Just a little more, and the arrow wouldn’t have hit him…
