As soon as Niamh finished speaking, Wendy flinched like a startled bird. Her entire body was now trembling. Niamh was very pleased with her reaction. So, she simply turned and left.
About ten minutes later, Wendy staggered out of the restroom, hunched over in pain. She was barely able to stand straight, and she looked like a walking corpse.
Theodore stood outside, dressed in a crisp suit with an unreadable expression.
Wendy handed him the memory card clutched in her palm.
“She didn’t recognize me.” Despite her bruised and swollen face, Wendy grinned. “I’m counting on you. I want her to rot in hell! I want justice for Dawn!”
Theodore took the memory card, his fingers turning it over indifferently before he turned to leave.
Wendy called out to him. “I just want to know, Mr. Snapp, why are you suddenly willing to help me seek justice? No matter how much I begged before, you didn’t even look at this case.”
Theodore idly toyed with the tiny memory card between his fingers. “Because I want to win over a certain woman.”
The black Maybach rolled into the Fisher residence’s garage. Niamh reached out to drape Harvey’s arm over her shoulder.
Harvey, regaining his clarity, instinctively pulled his arm away.
“Harvey, I’ll help you inside,” Niamh offered.
“No need.” His voice was hoarse, and he pushed open his door, stepping out on his own.
Niamh quickly followed. “Hey, slow down! You drank a lot!”
She tried to grab his hand, but Harvey walked too fast.
Once inside, he sank onto the sofa and rubbed his tense forehead. It had been a long time since he had drunk enough to feel a headache.
“Lemon water,” he muttered absently into the air.
Niamh stepped closer, frowning. “Huh? What did you say?”
Harvey’s eyes flickered open slightly, but inside, a hollow feeling settled deep in his chest.
Elara had been gone from the Fisher family for a full month now. Yet, he still hadn’t adjusted to life without her in
the house.
Neither had the household staff. Even Ethel and Beau had been complaining more and more lately.
Harvey clutched his stomach, his brows knitting together as a wave of pain shot through him. He let out a low
groan.
“Harvey! What’s wrong?” Niamh asked anxiously.
Harvey gritted his teeth, suppressing the pain in his gut. “Call Elara. Tell her to bring me my stomach medicine.” Niamh’s expression darkened, but she forced herself to keep her voice casual.

“She blocked all our numbers a long time ago. Elara’s a heartless woman.”
Harvey pulled out his phone. In a situation like this, there was no way Elara would ignore him.
Despite the dizziness clouding his mind, he quickly found the contact number for the front desk of the bote where Elara was staying and made the call.
The hotel receptionist answered in a businesslike tone. “Please hold for a moment.”
Instead of forwarding the call to Elara, the receptionist hung up. Following instructions from higher–ups, the dialed Theodore instead.
“Mr. Snapp, a gentleman claiming to be Ms. Jones’s husband is requesting to have his call transferred to her room

Theodore’s response was swift. “Transfer the call to me instead.”
“Understood. Please hold.”
Harvey heard the call reconnect.
“Elara, my stomach hurts,” he said immediately.
“If you’re sick, go to the hospital. What’s wrong, Mr. Fisher? Is there a tumor growing on your leg?”
Theodore’s voice which was dripping with disdain entered Harvey’s ears.
Just then, Harvey’s eyes snapped open wide in shock. The alcohol he had just consumed felt like a thousand needles stabbing straight into his gut.
