Merida lowered her head, gripping the hem of her shirt with both hands. She didn’t think she had done anything wrong, but her impulsiveness had caused trouble for Elara.
Elara placed a reassuring hand on Merida’s shoulder, standing as her invisible shield. “My daughter did not hit anyone.”
“She did!” Beau shouted, waving his arms wildly and pointing at Merida. “Bambi hit me! You’re a terrible woman! A biased hypocrite! You must be blind if you didn’t see her hit me!”
Elara’s voice was firm. “I demand to

Her gaze toward Beau held the cold detachment one would have for a stranger.
James spread his hands with a casual shru
“The cameras are broken: Beau has been awarded All–Around Star for
three consecutive years. He’s Summit Academy’s best student–I believe him.”
James then turned to the parents gathered around. “Did any of you see Merida hit Beau just now?”
Several parents avoided his gaze.
“I saw it!” Rosalie stepped forward. “I saw Merida hit Beau!”
“Rosalie!” Elara snapped. “Have you lost your mind?”
Rosalie rolled her eyes. “You’re not Mrs. Fisher anymore. A child who takes your last name doesn’t deserve to study at Summit Academy.”
Seeing how openly the Fisher family rejected Elara now, the other parents followed suit.
“Ms. Jones, you and your daughter were already kicked out by the Fisher family. Doesn’t it seem inappropriate to keep her in this elite school?”
“The Fisher family disowned Bambi because they realized she takes after her mother–uncultured and unrefined.” “I’ve never seen someone raise a girl to be this strong. I’m terrified my son might get beaten up by her!”
Elara scanned the crowd, meeting the eyes of each parent who wanted Merida expelled. She memorized all of their faces.
After they left the Fisher family, these people had shed their polite facades, revealing their true colors toward them.
Contempt and discrimination surged toward them like a flood. They wanted to trample her and Merida underfoot, to drag them down into the mud and make sure they never rose again.
James puffed out his chest, feeling even more confident.
With so many parents supporting Merida’s expulsion, he turned to his assistant. “Go to the records office and retrieve Bambi Fisher’s student file!”
“Yes, sir!”
Merida’s eyes turned red with unshed tears. She understood the seriousness of the situation. “Mommy, I’m sorry.”
“Merida, you did nothing wrong.”
Elara knelt and gently comforted her. “Summit Academy has a toxic environment. We’re leaving to protect you

from further discrimination and harm, but we won’t stay silent about this.”
She turned to James. “I will make sure the Department of Education hears about what happened at Summit Academy today!”
James chuckled, amused by her declaration. “Elara, do you still think you’re Mrs. Fisher? With your status, you won’t even get past the front gate of the Department of Education!”
The audacity of her thinking she could report him! He could crush her with just a flick of his finger.
“You should think carefully about your daughter’s future.” James lowered his voice, his tone dripping with threat. “You wouldn’t want every kindergarten in the city to blacklist her, would you?”
Elara’s eyes widened in shock. He was blatantly threatening her.
If she went to the Department of Education, James would make sure no school–accepted Merida.
“Oh, Elara.” Niamh drawled smugly, stretching out her words. “I even recorded the entire moment when Merida grabbed Beau!”
Elara knew Niamh all too well. “You only filmed the part that benefits Beau.
Niamh’s grin widened. “So what? Too bad your daughter handed me the perfect weapon.‘

Watching Elara and Merida pushed into a corner, Niamh was already laughing hysterically in her head.
