Chapter 72
Merida wrapped one arm around Paisley and the other around Shirley, lifting both of her best friends as she spun in circles with them.
Seeing the scene unfold, Rosalie shrieked like a startled hen. “Bambi! What are you doing? Put my daughter down right now!”
But her only response was the sound of three girls laughing happily.
Elara worried that Merida might actually toss Shirley and Paisley into the air like shot puts, so she gently patted her daughter’s back.
“Go on, head to school now.”
Merida set Shirley and Paisley down. The two girls were sweating from excitement, but Merida herself showed no signs of exhaustion–no heavy breathing, no flushed cheeks. Her round, dark eyes locked onto the academic file in Elara’s hands.
“My student records were already taken out. Can they be put back in?”
Elara reassured her, “You’ve changed your name, and Mommy came to school today to officially update your academic records.”
She crouched down and spoke seriously to her daughter. “Merida, I know you don’t want to leave your friends at Summit Academy, and I support your decision. Other parents might behave better now, but you’ll still be in the same class as Beau…”
“Mommy, I won’t back down!” ‘s!
was firm and resolute.
“I’ll make Beau understand that I am Merida Jones now! I’m someone he can’t bully or look down on!”
Elara’s smile was warm and encouraging, like the gentle rain of spring. “Alright!”
This was the path Merida had chosen for herself, and Elara would give her the freedom to fly.
Merida led Paisley and Shirley hand in hand as the three of them skipped happily toward the school building. Elara
then turned around and saw Beau standing in the distance, staring at her intently.
The moment he realized she had noticed, he quickly turned his face away.
“Hmph!” He huffed to himself. Elara obviously wanted to make up with him, but he wasn’t interested!
“Niamh, bye–bye!” Beau waved at Niamh in farewell.
“Bye, Beau Baby! Your dad and I will pick you up after school.”
Beau couldn’t hide his delight. Of course, Niamh was the best–only she had the ability to convince his dad to come pick him up! That made her the most powerful person in the world!
Elara had already shifted her attention away. “Mr. White, let me walk you to your car.”
She followed Desmond as he headed toward his personal car. There was a faint, unreadable smile on his face.
That brat, Theodore–he really couldn’t hide his feelings at all.
Desmond was curious to see how Theodore would handle himself in front of Elara. Elara opened the car door for him, and Desmond glanced inside–only to find it completely empty.
“Mr. White, is something wrong?” Elara noticed his brief hesitation.

Desmond shook his head with a light chuckle. “Seems like someone has taken a page out of a good samaritan’s book–doing good deeds without leaving a name.”
Elara was even more confused. Who was he talking about?
Desmond got into the car and, through the window, told her, “If you ever need help, don’t hesitate to ask me.”
Harvey stepped out of the car, pulling out his phone to check the video Niamh had sent in the group chat. He tapped on the first video and saw Merida effortlessly lift Beau off the ground.
A layer of cold frost spread across his handsome features in an instant, and even his dark eyes seemed to be coated in ice.
Elara had taken Merida away for just a month, and she had already corrupted the child!
It had to be Elara who had instigated Merida to do this!
Cyrus, who was walking behind Harvey suddenly felt a chill wash over him. He shivered slightly and then heard Harvey click his tongue coldly.
Cyrus instantly thought that Harvey must have come across something seriously aggravating. He instinctively held his breath and tried to make himself as inconspicuous as possible.
Harvey exuded an icy aura as he entered the Fisher Corp commercial building. When he reached the executive elevator, he found his path blocked by a sign that read “Out of Order: Under Maintenance“.
His expression darkened even further.
Ever since he had left the courthouse with his divorce certificate, his mood had been perpetually foul.
Why did everything seem to be going wrong for him?
Cyrus, now drenched in cold sweat, spoke cautiously. “Mr. Fisher, your private elevator is out of service. It will take at least another 30 minutes before it’s operational again.”
He quickly added, “I’ll clear the employee elevator for you right away.”
“No need,” Harvey rejected curtly. He strode toward the employee elevator instead.
Inside, employees hurriedly bowed their heads in greeting. ‘Good morning, Mr. Fisher.”
Harvey gave a brief, indifferent nod. Standing among the dozen or so employees, he was an imposing presence- tall, commanding, and emanating an air of aloof authority.
The chilling aura surrounding him made everyone instinctively inch away, trying to put as much space between themselves and their intimidating CEO as possible.
As the elevator ascended, the employees held their breath, barely daring to move.
None of them dared to look at Harvey. They all pretended to be busy, keeping their heads down and scrolling through their phones.
Suddenly, one employee gasped in surprise.
“Whoa! The first–place winner in the ALI Math Competition preliminaries is an unemployed housewife!”
