The employees stared at Harvey, and their eyes were wide with confusion. “Mr. Fisher, do you have a cold?” “Mr. Fisher, should you see a doctor? You don’t look well… Your complexion seems off…”
Their concerned remarks only darkened Harvey’s already gm expression.”
Cyrus was about to step forward and scold the employees, but before he could, Harvey had already turned and strode toward the exit.
Cyrus quickly caught up, pulling open the car door for him. Mr. Fisher, I’ll make sure every single one of those employees slacking off in the lobby gets written up with a docked pay!”
Harvey sat in the car like a walking refrigeration unit. His ey gaze locked onto Cyrus.
“Oh? And you think announcing to the world that I’m Elara’s ‘blind as a bat‘ ex–husband is a good idea?”
Cold sweat dripped from Cyrus’s forehead. He stood frozen in place, and his lips were trembling
“I… I would never think that! It’s just… There’s a lot of online chatter that’s… not exactly in your favor.” Cyrus hesitantly handed Harvey his phone. Harvey glanced at the screen. The number one trending topic on X right now was: #ElaraJonesExHusband.
He let out a cold, mocking laugh. He never imagined that one day, his name would blow up on the internet–all
because of Elara.
He didn’t bother checking the comments. The opinions of the masses beneath him weren’t worth his time.
If–and that was a big if–Elara actually placed in the finals…
Maybe, just maybe, he’d be magnanimous enough to offer her a position at Fisher Corp. It’d be a high–paying job with a seven–figure salary… A chance for her to work under him.
Right then, his phone rang. It was Niamh, so he answered.
“Harvey, there’s a race up in Mount Clockwork tonight. I want to take Beau to watch.”
Harvey’s voice was cold. “He’s not suited for that.”
“Harvey, if you don’t trust me to take Beau up the mountain at night, then come too. Do you remember what day it is?”
One sentence was all it took to stir something inside Harvey
Today was Dawn’s birthday. Back then, he had funded and launched the Mount Clockwork off–road tournament because of Dawn’s love for racing.
“We race on the ground, but Dawn can see us from the sky. Niamh’s voice carried a knowing smile.
She understood. Dawn’s death was an unhealed wound on Harvey’s soul. Mentioning Dawn was like striking a flint against ice–it could melt even the coldest glacier.
The suffocating pressure in Harvey’s chest needed an outlet And today, of all days, was his sister’s death anniversary.
“Fine.” His voice was low but firm. “I’ll take Beau. We’ll leave in half an hour.”
Over the phone, both Niamh and Beau shouted, “Yes!”

Harvey wasn’t surprised. That little troublemaker must have been clinging to Niamh the entire time.
With Ethel tangled in the fallout of James‘ bribery case, she had managed to slip away unscathed, but Harvey had instructed her to keep a low profile for now to avoid further scrutiny.
With Ethel preoccupied and the house staff struggling to keep the brat under control, Harvey had allowed him to stick with Niamh–as long as their antics didn’t cross the line.
Harvey set his phone down. How long had It been since he last touched a race car? Tonight, he’d allow himself 30 minutes to let loose.
Niamh, who was perched on her motorcycle, grinned smugly.
“Your daddy said yes! He’s taking you to Mount Clockwork to watch the race!”
