Chapter 85
Beau sat in front of Niamh, bouncing with excitement.
“Niamh! You’re my only real friend! I never even dreamed that Daddy would take me to watch a race!”
He pouted and added, “Compared to that country bumpkin, you’re light–years ahead!”
Niamh chuckled, unable to suppress the smug lift of her brows. “Do you know your mom is getting trashed online?”
Beau corrected her with a scowl. “That woman isn’t my mom anymore!”
The amusement in Niamh’s eyes deepened.
“Why are people trashing her?” Beau asked curiously.
–
“Elara cheated her way to first place in the math competition prelims. The Internet finally caught on her scores are fake! There’s no way she had the ability to win!”
Saying that, Niamh opened X, intending to read Beau some of the hate comments about Elara. But the moment she tapped the trending list, she froze.
The number one trending topic now was #ElaraJonesExHusband.
She clicked on it, scanning the flood of comments, and immediately froze. She kept scrolling–post after post of netizens dragging Elara’s ex–husband through the mud.
Then, she checked Elara’s name in the trending discussions What she saw left her breathless.
The same high–profile netizens who had confidently accused Elara of cheating were now posting public apologies, admitting they had misunderstood her.
The most popular comments were either praising Elara’s looks or sympathizing with her for being stuck with a petty, vindictive ex–husband.
Niamh’s breath completely stalled, her hands trembling as she clutched her phone.
“Niamh?” Beau called out timidly.
It was his first time seeing Niamh with such a terrifying expression–her sharp, fierce gaze looked as if she was about to jump through the screen and start swinging.
Niamh snapped out of it, then turned to Beau with a bright, forced smile. “Tell me, who do you think is prettier- your mom or me?”
Beau hesitated for two seconds, and Niamh’s face instantly turned sour.
“Niamh is the prettiest!”
Hearing the answer she wanted, she finally felt a little better. She put down her phone and looked at Beau.
“Enough about her. Wanna try riding the bike yourself?
Beau’s eyes widened, his pupils dilating with excitement. “Really? I can actually drive it? But the handlebars are so heavy…”
Niamh thumped her chest confidently. “You’ve got me! What’s there to be scared of? We’ll ride together.
“You take over the handlebars once the bike stabilizes. Then, you’ll know what it feels like to fly!”

Beau could barely contain himself. “Yes! Yes! Let’s do it!”
To him, Niamh was the best person in the world. She let him do whatever he wanted. She encouraged him to try things.
Unlike her….
That country bumpkin had always controlled him, always restricting what he could and couldn’t do.
After Elara left the Fisher family, Niamh took Beau, skipping; school and riding motorcycles, chasing the rush of speed.
She brought him to bars and allowed him to drink. She even taught him how to fight.
Beau thought that was so cool. If he got good at fighting, he could finally beat Merida.
The roar of the engine echoed down the highway as Niamh sped forward. Another motorcycle pulled up beside her, riding in sync.
A mounted camera on the second bike recorded everything, capturing their ride in full. Once they hit 100 mph, Niamh loosened her grip and leaned in close.
“Alright, Beau–grab the handlebars. Take control.”
