Niamh had been riding motorcycles for years, but for the first time, she truly understood what it meant to be powerless–what it meant to be utterly left in the dust.
She and Luna weren’t even in the same league. This was a one–sided demolition as Luna had utterly crushed her.
Beau had been staring at Luna for so long that he only just now noticed Niamh lagging behind. He crossed his arms and puffed up his cheeks in dissatisfaction.
“Niamh is so slow! She’s crawling like a turtle!”
Harvey sat in his chair, still wearing his thick racing suit. The front was unzipped to reveal his solid, hearing chest as he caught his breath.
His deep, knowing gaze remained locked on Luna. No one had ever held his attention like this before. Maybe was the allure of extreme sports–the kind of thrill that made it impossible to look away.
Elara had finished her third lap first, pulling up at the finish line before flashing Theodore a quick signal Theodore immediately gestured to the event staff.
A moment later, an official’s voice rang directly into Niamh’s earpiece.
“Ms. Jones, Luna has completed the race. As per the agreement, please dismount and run to the finish line on foot.
Niamh had fallen a full lap and a half behind Elara, meaning she had to run more than three miles to the finishing line! But she completely ignored the official’s announcement and kept riding
What she didn’t realize was that when the official made that announcement, the entire audience had heard it. The moment the crowd saw her blatantly disregard the rules, people began shouting
“Get off the bike! Get off the bike!”
“Own up to your loss!”
“What a cheat! Think you can ride a little longer and shave off some of the running distance?!”
Even Niamh’s closest friends, who were sitting in the stands, felt utterly humiliated.
One of the rich young heirs ran over to the control booth and tapped into Niamh’s special communication channel.
“Niamh Jones! Stop the bike! Everyone is roasting you!”
Niamh froze. She braked hard, yanked off her helmet, and finally heard the thunderous wave of jeers crashing down from the audience.
“Can’t handle losing, huh?”
“Get off the damn bike!”
“You were talking big just now when you challenged Luna, but now you’re too scared to accept defeat?”
Niamh’s face flushed deep red. She had definitely been hoping that by riding a few extra seconds, she could cut down the distance she had to run.
Being forced to abandon her bike and run all the way to the finish line was incredibly humiliating. But her bet with Luna was public knowledge now.

“Fucking hell!” Niamh cursed, slamming her helmet onto the ground. She tapped into her Bluetooth headset, connecting to the control booth.
“Luna’s bike had better performance than minel That’s the only reason I lost!”
One of her closest friends, standing in the control room, trid to talk her down.
“A loss is a loss, Niamh. Just run a little bit to the finish line, what’s the big deal? You lost to Eucon’s legendary female racer–it’s not even embarrassing!”
Nonetheless, Niamh felt mortified. Run “a little” to the finish, he said? She still had more than two miles left! There was no way she’d let herself stumble to the finish line like some pathetic loser. Instead, Niamh grabbed her bike and began pushing it forward slowly.
This way, at least, she could claim she was accepting defeat with dignity.
However, the weight of the heavy motorcycle had her panting for breath after barely covering any distance. She was covered in dust, and looking like an absolute mess.
Meanwhile, Elara had just stepped off her bike when she turned and saw Harvey and Beau walking toward her. Bean, who was bursting with excitement, sprinted up to her.
“Luna! You’re so cool! Do you have kids? I bet being your kid would be the best thing ever!”
His dark, round eyes sparkled like black grapes, completely mesmerized by her.
“If I were Luna’s kid, I’d be the happiest boy alive! Luna, my dad is a big CEO–you wanna be his wife?”
Elara simply stared at Beau from behind her helmet.
She had raised this child for five years, yet not once had he ever looked at her with this kind of admiration. Then Harvey’s voice rang out. “Come to the Fisher residence to collect your cars within three days.”
His dark eyes burned with interest as he looked at Luna. “If you don’t come to the Fisher residence’s garage in person, the bet is off.”
