Chapter 14 Love At First Sight Or Lured By Appearance?
“Mr. Dale.” She lowered her head slightly, feeling a bit at a loss.
He was still wearing yesterday’s slacks and shirt. He looked a bit tired but also…
Well, a certain forbidden allure about him.
The moment he appeared, he made her want to abandon her rationally.
Love at first sight was something that, at times, even she doubted was genuine love.
But whenever they met, her racing heartbeat made it impossible for her to deceive herself–it was merely being lured by his appearance.
“Madam will be coming over later,” he said.
“Huh?” She hadn’t quite processed it yet and looked at him awkwardly.
“Your mother–in–law.”
“Oh.” She responded slowly.
Christopher looked at her dressed in a white tracksuit and asked, “Went for a run?”
“No.”
Christopher stared at her again.
Lucy didn’t say anything else, just slightly raised her hand, inviting him inside.
After entering, Christopher felt quite satisfied–it was, after all, his favorite unit.
“Mr. Dale, I…”
She wanted to tell him she planned to return to Aniaca.
“Did you make breakfast?”
‘I did, but Mr. Dale…”
“We’ll talk while eating.”
After being interrupted repeatedly, Lucy’s mood soured a bit.
But since he had already strode toward the dining area, she had no choice but to follow.
Her cooking skills were honestly mediocre. She had never enjoyed cooking as a child, and her parents never insisted she learn.
Her breakfast was sandwiches.
Yet, she had tried them once at a breakfast shop and immediately loved them. After looking up the recipe and making them a few times, they turned out decent.
Christopher stood at the dining table, his narrow phoenix eyes half–squinting.
Lucy noticed his expression and knew right away this wasn’t something he liked.

Who said she was going to redo it?
She was about to suggest he go out to eat.
After all, she had only prepared her own set, and now it had to be split in half?
Honestly, she could easily finish an entire one herself in the morning.
Christopher picked up a piece to taste it, his expression remained serious.
“Maybe you should just spare yourself the trouble and eat out later,” Lucy said as she poured a glass of milk.
“Thank you”

Just as she finished pouring the milk and was about to put it on her side of the table, he reached out first, taking it and even saying thank you.
Was he really going to take her sandwiches and her milk?
Quite domineering.
She thought to herself. If we got to know each other even a little better, Probably wouldn’t be infatuated with him anymore.
He had such a knack for monopolizing other people’s things.
After taking the milk, he added casually, “Go grab another set of utensils, we’ll share this.”
He seemed completely oblivious to her unwillingness to entertain him or her attempts to drive him away.
“I wanted to tell you, once we finalize the divorce, I plan to leave.” Lucy was unwilling to be ordered around by him any longer.
“Leave? Where to?”
“Back to Aniaca.”
Christopher’s expression darkened further.
She actually wanted to go back to Aniaca–something he hadn’t expected.
“I don’t think I’m suited for the role of your secretary. Besides, I’ve been homesick for a long time,” she explained.
She thought that mentioning homesickness might evoke some sympathy from him.
“If I remember correctly, your hometown is here. What’s so great about Aniaca?” He wasn’t pleased, reminding her.
“Mm
In fact, she just thought that returning to Aniaca would be the cleanest way to cut off her unrequited and unresolved infatuation.
She replied softly, then turned to fetch another plate and tongs.
Indeed, they would have to share the food. After all, she had made the sandwiches herself, and it was already generous to give him two pieces.
Christopher watched her picking up the pieces from his plate, feeling inexplicably amused. She was already twenty–three, yet still acted like a child.
“But you can’t leave, Christopher said, his phoenix–like eyes glinting with a trace of amusement. He gazed at her leisurely, yet his tone was unequivocal.
