“Stephen and the patriarch are out of town. If anything happens to the matriarch, how will we explain it to them?” Once the matriarch’s condition stabilized, Hayley couldn’t contain her frustration. She slapped Christopher’s shoulder firmly as she reprimanded him.
Later, Christopher found himself alone in the ward. When he finally stepped out, he stated bluntly, “We won’t be getting a divorce.”
Lucy turned to him upon hearing his words. He looked so reluctant, his expression heavy. She knew he never truly wanted her to have the title of Mrs. Dale.
Hayley, however, heaved a sigh of relief and remarked, “Feelings can be nurtured.”
Christopher didn’t respond. He merely glanced at Lucy. Her eyes glistened with tears. He approached her and asked, “Will you stay now?” Lucy remained silent. Did she have any other choice?
The two of them went to the stairwell. Christopher let out a frustrated sigh and told her, “I’ll move in with you temporarily.”
Lucy looked at him in shock.
“It’s what the matriarch wants.” He clarified.
Lucy slowly lowered her head. Since it was what the matriarch wanted, she felt she had to accept it.
“Should we inform the matriarch about Emily being pregnant?” After some thought, she cautiously raised the question.
Surely, knowing about her grandchild would make the matriarch happy and make her more inclined to agree to their divorce.
“You’re oversimplifying things There’s a lot more to consider.” He said, his tone heavy.
“Then should we tell her or not?” Lucy asked again.
“Of course not.” He reiterated firmly.
He thought his earlier explanation should have been sufficient. But it seemed she was not grasping it.
“I see.” Lucy agreed meekly, not daring to say more.
His piercing gaze indicated that her questioning was already irking him.
Just then, his phone rang. Upon seeing it was Emily calling, his expression grew more irritated. He turned and walked a few steps away before answering, “What is it?”
“Her condition is stable now. Yes, yes, she’s with me. I’ll return later tonight. Take care of yourself.”
After hanging up, Christopher looked back at Lucy. Seeing her stand against the wall like a punished child, he sighed and walked toward her, “Whatever the matriarch says in the next few days, just go along with it.”
“Okay.” She nodded in agreement.
“Be smart, Lucy.” Christopher said. She looked up at him in confusion. Was he implying she was dumb?
Without elaborating, Christopher quickly left. His disdain for her was apparent.
That night, Christopher brought her suitcase back to the Royal Garden Penthouse.
However, starting today, there was an additional person in the house. Following the matriarchs‘ orders, Mrs. Sherburn had been assigned to supervise them.

Lucy remained in the living room, watching. He hadn’t been home for more than two minutes before leaving again. Yet……
Mrs. Sherburn lingered by the door, watching him as he entered the elevator. She quickly returned to report, “Mr. Dale went to the floor below. Why don’t you ask him to return?”
“It’s not necessary, Mrs. Sherburn.” Lucy replied.
“Why not?” Mrs. Sherburn looked at her, puzzled.
“He…..” He wasn’t someone she could control. He was simply going to visit the mother of his child. But how could she explain that to Mrs. Sherburn?
“He’s your husband. You have every right to ask him to come back.” Mrs. Sherburn urged, unaware of Lucy’s thoughts.
“But, we have signed the divorce agreement.” Lucy explained.
The divorce agreement? The matriarch tore it up.” Mrs. Sherburn clarified.
“Torn up?” Lucy said, bewildered.
