Chapter 24 Sleeping In Separate Rooms
Together?
If he hadn’t gotten another woman pregnant. Even if he didn’t love her.
Lucy had forgotten to breathe as she stared at him. Christopher’s deep, dark eyes remained calm and unwavering. Their gares locked, leaving her mind blank.
But then, she felt ridiculous. He was likely just upset about not being able to divorce her immediately and deliberately provoked her with his words.
Besides, the faint scent of a familiar perfume clung to him–the same one that belonged to Emily. He had probably already shared a bath with her.
How could he even consider bathing with someone else when he had Emily by his side?
With these thoughts swirling in her head, Lucy gripped her phone and ignored what he said. Instead, she smiled politely and said. “Tll go first.”
She got up and left, not bothering to check her still–vibrating phone. Christopher silently observed her retreating figure.
Later.
He stood by the bed, his tall frame casting a long shadow, listening to the persistent buzzing of her phone in the bathroom. How much could she have to say to this “friend“?
In truth, the person messaging her wasn’t a typical friend.
In the bathroom, Lucy sank into the tub, uninterested in the messages on her phone. She was simply exhausted.
From her initial plan to leave, to returning to the office, to the matriarch being hospitalized, and now, back here with Christopher.
It had been an overwhelming day. After nearly thirty seconds underwater, she resurfaced, gasping for air as she wiped her

“Sleep here.” He said it flatly, and Lucy looked at him, puzzled. His domineering presence left her no room for argument. “Why do you think Mrs. Sherburn is here?” He added.
“But she’s already asleep. Lucy refuted.
“The elders always praise you for being gentle and smart. But Lucy, why do I find you unbearably foolish?” He mocked. His words stung, but she remained silent, suppressing her anger.
“Starting tonight, we’ll be sleeping in the same room.” He stated again. His tone was more authoritative than that of a husband speaking to his wife, more like a boss addressing a subordinate.
A subordinate? Yes, if she continued to work as his secretary, that’s all she would be–his subordinate.
Glancing at the room containing a bed and a sofa, she hesitated before asking. Then, Mr.Dale, may I ask, who sleeps on the

Christopher stared at her in silence for what felt like an eternity. His gaze was cold, extinguishing the last flicker of her defiance, forcing her to lower her head awkwardly.
He let out a faint chuckle, said nothing more, and walked toward the bathroom. He’s going to shower, she thought to herself.
Lucy quickly called out, recalling the last time he forgot his pajamas, “Mr. Dale, you didn’t bring your pajamas!”
