Chapter 3 Hurry To Drive Her Away
“Hurry up,” Christopher ordered. Lucy struggled to breathe. Her wrist was suddenly grabbed, and then she was pulled to the edge of the bed. “Lucy? Are you in there?” It was his mother’s voice. Lucy was about to respond when a sudden force pushed against her chest. Before she could utter a word, she was already falling onto the springy mattress. What followed was the overwhelming presence of the man, dark and domineering, rendering her completely speechless. Christopher knelt on one knee by her side, leaning down so close that their faces were inches apart. His broad hand covered her lips firmly. Lucy struggled to breathe, staring at him dumbfounded, her mind completely shutting down. Their breaths mingled in the tight space. She could smell the distinct masculine scent on him, mingled with the faint trace of the same wine they had both drunk earlier. The bed seemed to sink, that was something that never happened when she was on it alone. She had never been this close to a man before, and her mind blanked out. Her face turned bright red. Christopher glanced down at her neck once she stilled, and then his gaze dropped lower. She was wearing a simple blouse and skirt today. The top was modest, but the hem, which stopped just above her knees, highlighted her slender legs in a way that was unexpectedly alluring. Lucy was still in a daze when she suddenly felt an unfamiliar warmth graze her legs, followed by a chilling sensation. And then… The bed bounced lightly as the weight on top of her disappeared. That cool sensation lingered, growing even more intense. Her face was covered with a blanket, her breathing somewhat restrained. The door opened, and Christopher’s crisp voice rang out, “What’s the matter?” “Why are you hiding in here instead of entertaining the guests? Where’s Lucy?” Hayley asked as she glanced into the room. Then, after a pause, she stepped back hurriedly. “You little rascal.” “We’re not coming back down,” Christopher said. “Okay.” Hayley quickly left, and only then did he gently close the door again. Turning back to the woman on the bed, his gaze lingered. Her slender legs, fair as jade, and the inadvertent touch earlier… Christopher knew he shouldn’t be having such thoughts. He slowly approached. “Get up.” She awkwardly lifted her hand and pulled the blanket off her face. By now, her face was bright red. She was both embarrassed and shy, not knowing what to do. No one had ever treated her like this before. She tried to get up, but her legs felt weak beneath her. She could only sit there, head lowered, trying to straighten out her skirt. “Pack your things.” “…” Lucy looked at him in confusion. “Tomorrow morning, you’ll move out of the mansion, so pack your things early.” It sounded like a considerate arrangement, but… He was just in a hurry to get her out of the Dale family’s mansion. After all, in his heart, she didn’t belong here. Left with no choice, she got up. Opening the bedside cabinet, there were all the new clothes Hayley had bought for her. Most still had their tags attached because she rarely wore them. Christopher unintentionally caught sight of her slender legs again, the white skirt swaying slightly as she moved, as if trying to make him dizzy. Irritated, he walked into the bathroom and gently closed the door behind him. He had always been gentle, except for the moment when he pushed her onto the bed just now. Hearing the door click shut, Lucy finally let out a breath and stumbled backward onto the bed, her legs giving out beneath her. Clutching the clothes in her arms, she sat there, listening to the sound of running water from the bathroom. Her breathing grew shallow again. She couldn’t understand why he had acted like that just now. She had already signed the divorce papers. Even if they couldn’t inform the elders about their impending divorce, he didn’t need to keep up appearances to such an extreme. And yet… The places he had touched still tingled faintly. She clasped the wrist he had held, gripping it tightly. She repeatedly reminded herself, “From now on, you’re just a secretary. Don’t even think about wanting a single piece of him.”
