When I woke up again, I found myself in a mental hospital, my hands and feet strapped to a specialized chair.
Evelyn’s mother shrieked beside me:
“Evelyn Lynn is definitely mentally ill! You have no idea, she was just chasing us with a
chainsaw! I almost got sawed in half, it was terrifying!”
“This woman is dangerous! You have to lock her up and never let her out!”
“I’m her own mother! I wouldn’t lie! I want to be her guardian, and all the property in her name should be mine!”
The doctor ignored Evelyn’s mother’s outburst.
Seeing that I was awake and seemed relatively stable, he had the nurse unlock the
restraints.
Then, the nurse handed me a test and a pen.
The doctor smiled at me and said:
“Ms. Lynn, if you’re feeling up to it, please answer these questions for me.”
Evelyn’s mother glared, shouting like a lunatic:
“She’s mentally ill! How could she possibly cooperate with you and answer the questions? Just diagnose her already! I need a diagnosis certificate!”
But I obediently took the test booklet and pen, and seriously started answering the
questions.
While I was answering, I wondered if the original FL actually had some kind of mental issue.
After all, being tormented by the whole family like this every day would drive anyone crazy.
I quickly finished all the questions and handed the booklet to the doctor, who checked each
one carefully.
Evelyn’s mother rolled her eyes, scoffing:
“Back in elementary school, Evelyn Lynn’s teacher told me to get her checked out for mental
issues. Over the years, she’s only gotten weirder. There’s definitely something wrong with her!”
The doctor took a deep breath, then said:
“Every single question is correct! Ms. Lynn doesn’t have a mental illness at all!”
Evelyn’s mother was aghast: “How is that possible! She’s gone completely mad, trying to kill
people with a chainsaw!”
I gave a faint smile.
You’re kidding, right? In real life, I spent a whole five years in a mental hospital!
Forget these basic questions, I can answer even the hardest ones without a hitch. I’ve had
the entire question bank memorized for ages!
I just have a mental illness; it doesn’t mean I’m intellectually disabled.
I looked at Evelyn’s mother triumphantly.
But Evelyn’s mother just scoffed:

“You think answering a question correctly is going to get you out of here? Let me tell you, the doctor’s already been paid off! You’ll never escape this mental hospital!”
I was stunned. “You’re messing with me? Then what was the point of making me do that
problem?”
Evelyn’s mother scoffed:
“After all these years of torment, I thought you’d already lost it. If you weren’t crazy before, you definitely are now!”
So, that’s the story!
I rolled my eyes and looked at the doctor.
He shrugged, palms up: “Who doesn’t like money? Life’s hard for everyone!”
While no one was looking, I ripped a button off my
chest.
“What do you think this button on my chest is?”
