Chapter 6
After coming back from the personel office, Aaliyah was stopped by a colleague halfway.

“Mr. Pittman just called for a meeting with the Design Department. It seems like he is about to announce a new director. The meeting is starting soon, so
come with us.
Aaliyah nodded and followed them to the office.
Along the way, several colleagues congratulated her with similes on their faces.
“Aaliyah, in the past three years you were involved in numerous significant projects in the department, and your work even won several international awards. It is only fair and logical that the position of director should be yours.”
“Yeah, with so many achievements in your hands and Mr. Pittman valuing you so much, you have become the new director, We all respect and admire you. After this good news is announced, you should treat us to dinner tonight!”
After working together for so long, Aaliyah knew that they were both genuine.
She had intended to tell them the news that she was going to resign soon, but considering that Calvin hadn’t signed yet, she still planned to wait until
dinner to announce it.
“It doesn’t matter whether I am the new director or not, but I do want to treat everyone to dinner tonight and have some news to share with all of you.”
A group of people walked and chatted, and soon they arrived at the meeting room. Aaliyah chose a corner and sat down.
Once everyone was present, Calvin pushed the door open on time and looled around before getting straight to the point.
“I believe everyone has also heard the rumors. Today’s meeting is being held to announce the new appointment for the Design Department Director. It anyone has anything to say, please feel free to speak up,”
All eyes fell on Aaliyah, and she also wanted to prevent the announcement of this resolution before the dust settled.
So after a moment of contemplation, she lifted her head and met Calvin’s calm and expressionless eyes, took a deep breath, and stood up.
“Mr. Pittman, over the years, I have been grateful for your trust in me and for entrusting me with so many projects. I have worked diligently with my colleagues to successfully complete them, living up to your expectations. Although I am unaware of who the director of your preference is, I would like to voluntarily apply before the official announcement_”
Before she could finish saying the words “resigning as director candidate,” Calvin interrupted her.
“The selection for the position of Director is that among the ten designers currently in the Design Department, the works of the other few are not s Impressive as yours, but your experience is still relatively limited. Therefore, I have decided to bring in an experienced and well–qualified new Director to take on this important role.”
As soon as the words tell, everyone in the Design Department was taken aback.
Aaliyah also stood still in place.
The next second, Calvin’s voice echoed throughout the conference room
“Let me introduce to you the new Director of the Design Department, Madilyn”
With a bang, the door of the conference room was pushed open, and Madilyn walked in with
with a simile and introduced hersell.
“Hello everyone, I am Madilyn, a doctoral student at Milankey Design Institute. I won the Youth Design Award from Walenbach in the past.
The room fell into silence, and everyone looked at each other, their faces becoming incredibly subile.
It is not because of anything else, but simply because several designers present have toived these awards mentioned in Madilyn’s self–introduction.
And she had no work experience, she was parachuted into this position right after graduation, which was difficult for everyone to accept, especially for those senior designers who had been working for nearly five years: They couldn’t help but speak up
“Mr. Pittman, we unanimously agreed that Ms. Moore Lacked some experience and needed another two years of honing before being able to take on the position of director In comparison, Aallyals is more capable of handling this role”
One person spoke up, and colleagues from the Design Department nødded in agreement.
Madilyn’s eyes immediately turned red, looking at Calvin with a pitiful expression.
Seeing her tears, a hint of pain flashed across Calvin’s face, and in an instant, his gaze towards Aaliyah became sharp and icy
“Madilyn, a high–achieving graduate from a prestigious school, has won numerous international awards. In terms of vision and ability, she is unmatched. by Aaliyah. She has handled many projects, but all of this is only possible with the solid foundation and support of the Design Department. Even if I were to entrust all of this to Madilyn, she would still be able to deliver a perfect result, even surpassing expectations. Therefore, the position of Design. Department Director belongs to Madilyn without any further discussion.”
