Chapter 16 He Will Marry Her as Promised
“It is, Chloe,” Samuel said, coming through the door carrying fruit and setting it down on the side table by the window.
Just as he was about to peel an orange for Chloe, she suddenly grabbed him clumsily and said, “Sam, I’ve been sitting in bed for days. My whole body feels numb. Can you help me go out for a walk and get some fresh air?”
Samuel explained. “Your legs can’t move right now. If you want to go out, you’d have to use a wheelchair.”
“I don’t want a wheelchair. If I rely on it, I might never get rid of it. Just help me walk with crutches. Besides, I only have a fracture, not an amputated leg.”
Samuel had to agree. “Alright, but gently.”
He grabbed the crutches nearby for Chloe and helped her walk out, still leaving his charging phone behind.
Samuel supported Chloe as they left the hospital building, heading towards a secluded garden area.
Thinking about Eliana’s earlier phone call, Chloe couldn’t help but ask Samuel, “Sam, how do you plan to handle this for me?”
Samuel had already forgotten about that matter and didn’t immediately understand what Chloe meant. He asked, “Handle
what?”
Chloe got angry when she heard this. She suddenly stopped and said, “I told you, Eliana pushed me down the stairs. Now ! can’t see anything and can barely walk. Shouldn’t you make her pay for this?”
Samuel’s handsome face showed no expression, and his voice was cold. “I’ve dealt with her. Don’t worry.
“Oh? What did you do to her?”
“I made her stay at home to reflect on her actions, bread and water for three days–confined to the house, and no allowance for a month.”
Chloe was furious. “Just that?!
She felt resentful. “Do you really need her to have your child? Can’t you divorce her now?”
Samuel pressed his thin lips tightly, his attitude somewhat impatient. “I can give up on having her bear my child, but divorcing her now wouldn’t be fair to her. I need to find the right time to talk to her about it.”
Chloe was anxious. “How is it unfair to her? Your marriage was fake to begin with. Just give her some money as compensation. Unless-
“Chloe, we agreed on two years, and it will be two years. After that, I’ll marry you as promised. But until then, I make the decisions. Just like with you, I could offer you money as compensation. Do you want that?”
He asked her rhetorically, his tone brooking no argument.
Chloe said nothing.
The man’s powerful aura and his attitude of looking down on everything made her dare not push further.
She knew Samuel hated being bossed around by others. She didn’t dare to act up again, or it might backfire.
Chloe leaned on her crutches and walked forward Suddenly, she saw Eliana’s small, delicate figure approaching across the hospital lawn.
Her expression changed. She pretended to accidentally drop her crutches and threw herself at Samuel.
Samuel instinctively steadied her. “Are you okay?”
“Sarn, I suddenly feel a terrible headache I feel awful
Then fll help you back to your room”
“Sam, my leg hurts so much too. I feel terrible, Sam-
Chloe collapsed on the ground, refusing to move on her own, while glaring viciously in Eliana’s direction.
At this crucial moment, Samuel naturally lifted her up in his arms, leaving the crutches. Tll carry you back,” he said.
