Hearing Eleanor’s encouragement, Chase’s eyes first lit up, but soon dimmed again. He laughed self–deprecatingly, raised the half–empty bottle in his hand, and took another gulp.
“She is married. What else is there for me to fight for?”
Eleanor snatched the bottle from him and threw it aside. “So what if she’s married?” She scoffed. “She can get divorce
Chase didn’t react to his mother’s words. “Huh?”
“What are you looking at me like that for? Am I wrong” Eleanor said disapprovingly. “You are my son. Fight for what you want Don’t be a coward”
Encouraged and prodded by Eleanor, Chase’s eyes lit up with hope again. “Mom, you are right. Brynn used to like me so much. Only if I show her my true feelings and only love her from now on, will she definitely come back to me.”
Eleanor felt disdain. She wanted Chase to fight for the family, but not to marry Brynn. She thought, Just a divorced woman. she thought. ‘Being his mistress is too good for her. The title of Mrs. Johnson, she can’t even dream about it!

After buying the groceries, the three were about to head back when Brynn suddenly smacked her forehead. “Oh, almost forgot!”
Zoe looked at Brynn in confusion. “Mommy, what did you forget?”
“You two just arrived and don’t have much in the way of clothes. There’s a mall upstairs; let me take you to get some outfits.” With that, Brynn grabbed each of their hands and led them towards the mall.

Victoria originally wanted to say there was no need, as she had already asked someone to send clothes over. But thinking of Brynn’s kindness, she didn’t refuse in the end.
