Before Kevin could finish his words, the elevator stopped. The door opened automatically, and a guard hurried over and interrupted him.
He said, “Mr. President, everything is ready. We can leave for Montivara at any time.”
Dominic missed it when Kevin mentioned Portmare carlier. He just nodded slightly and said, “Tell everyone that we will leave in an hour.”
“Okay,” the guard responded.
Seeing this, Kevin quickly followed and continued, “Mr. President, Mrs. Victoria Johnson might-”

However, Dominic interrupted him. “We’ll talk about my
mother when we get back.”
He figured Victoria was calling about Brynn, but with work keeping him on his toes, he really didn’t have the time or energy to deal with her right now.
He decided to put it aside.
Kevin was interrupted again, and couldn’t bring himself to voice his suspicions.
He thought, ‘Mr. President said he would talk about it after returning home, and Mrs. Victoria Johnson had said the same on the phone. Fine, guess we have to postpone it.
With that in mind, Kevin quickened his pace to catch up with Dominic.
The next day was sunny. After waking up, Brynn lazed in bed for a
while before getting up quietly to wash up.
Zoe was still asleep–kids her age needed lots of rest. However, even though she moved quietly, the noise still woke Zoe up. Seeing Brynn getting up, Zoe instinctively hugged her and rubbed her head against her neck affectionately. “Mom, I want a hug,” she mumbled, obviously not fully awake.
Brynn was instantly smitten by her cuteness. “Good girl, go back to sleep. I will make you breakfast, okay?”
Zoe nodded groggily. “The breakfast you made is the best in the world.” She lay back down, too sleepy to keep her eyes
open.
Brynn chuckled softly and gently tucked her in, then she went to the bathroom to wash up. When she was done, she opened her phone and saw the messages Dominic had sent her last night.
Dominic: [I have to go to Montivara on a business trip. Let me know if there’s anything you want. I’ll bring it back for you.]
Brynn glanced at the clock. Dominic had probably just gotten on the plane when he texted her. Now that he was flying to Montivara, he should have landed already.
Brynn: [I don’t need anything, so don’t bother. By the way, did you arrive in Montivara safely?]
Dominic was exchanging pleasantries with a senior Montivaran official who had come to welcome him when he felt his phone vibrate. Then he took it out.
Seeing that it was a message from Brynn, he couldn’t help but smile.
The senior official, Alan Reed, who was chatting with Dominic about the local customs of Montivara, saw Dominic’s expression and wondered, ‘Why is this aloof man suddenly smiling so sweetly?‘

“Excuse me, I need to take this call. Can you wait a moment?” Dominic said, suddenly looking at Alan.
Alan was a little surprised. “What’s so important that you have to answer it now?”

He thought, ‘He’s known for being a workaholic. The only kind of call he’ll pick up right now has to be from someone like a president or a prime minister, right?‘
“It was my clingy wife.” Dominic said with a slight smile, “I think you understand.”
Alan thought with a bitter smile, ‘Seriously? I’ve been divorced for ages. What makes you think I’d understand anything about this?‘
