Chapter 29
Upon hearing this, the official immediately relaxed, his nervous tension evaporating
Pit, he thought. He almost got scared there! He had expected some big shot to be behind it. Instead, it’s just this guy.
With renewed arrogance, he sneered, “Me? I’m with the City Planning Department. The director of the department is my uncle. I’m his nephew!”
He smirked dismissively. “Still think my tone’s too harsh? What a bunch of hicks!”
He was sure his position would scare the guy into submission. But instead, Dominic just sneered, “You’re just the nephew of the director. Talking big like that?”
“What’s your attitude?” The man was getting angry.
But Dominic wasn’t fazed. He mumbled to himself, “Guess it’s about time the director of the City Planning Department gets replaced.”
With that, he simply pulled out his phone to text, ignoring the official.
“You’re just pretending!” the official scoffed, rolling his eyes. “What, you think you’re something special?”
His phone rang just then. Looking down, he saw the caller was none other than his uncle, the director.
“I’ll deal with you later!” He shot a final threatening glance at Dominic and Brynn before answering the call in an overly polite tone.
“Hey, uncle…”
But before he could say anything else, his uncle’s angry voice blasted through the phone. “What did you do, you brat?”
“Wha–what happened? Why are you yelling?” the official stammered.
“Who the hell did you offend? Because of you, I’m getting investigated!” His uncle was livid.
“Offend someone?” the official panicked. “No! I was just doing my job outside the Everett Group building. I didn’t do anything wrong!”
“You sure about that? Didn’t you see anyone important around?” the director doubted.
“Important?” The man froze and his eyes instinctively turned to Dominic. His throat went dry. “Well… yeah, I did.”
“Then you better start talking,” the director roared. “What did you do to offend them? Be clear!”
Even this clueless guy could tell something was off now. Cold sweat broke out across his forehead, and his hand trembled as he gripped the phone.
After a brief moment to collect himself, he quickly recounted everything that had just happened.
“Uncle, it shouldn’t be a big deal, right? That person didn’t look like someone important,” he explained, still holding onto a tiny bit of hope.
But the next words that came from his uncle’s furious voice shattered his delusions.
“You idiot! Do you have any idea who that was? That was the new president! You moron!”
The man froze. He didn’t expect to see the president here.

“What? I had no idea about this!” He was shaking, nearly in tears. “Uncle, what do I do now?”
“What can you do?” the director barked. “Apologize to the president immediately! Or you and your parents can kiss everything goodbye.”
With that, the phone clicked, and the director hung up.
“Uncle… hello? Wait!” The man was left speechless, panic rising in him.
How could he have possibly known he’d run into the new president on a random day? And now, after all the arrogant words he’d spoken in front of him, he knew he was in serious trouble.
His forehead was practically drenched in cold sweat. Taking a deep breath, he hurried to Dominic, bowing with extreme politeness.
“I’m so sorry! It was all my fault! I’ll withdraw the fine immediately. Please forgive me!*
But Dominic didn’t pay him any mind, focusing instead on Brynn, his tone soft as he asked, “Are you okay? They didn’t scare you, did they?”
The official quickly caught on and turned to Brynn, suddenly realizing the harsh words he’d spoken earlier. Gritting his teeth, he slapped himself twice across the face.
The sound of the slaps was sharp, startling Brynn. She turned her gaze to the official.
“I’m sorry, miss. I shouldn’t have said those things,” the official apologized. “I’m such a fool. Please forgive me!”
Brynn watched him with confusion. Just
Jas moments ago, he was arogant. Now, he was like a completelydifferent person.
She couldn’t help but glance at Dominic, wondering what he had done to make the man react like this.
It felt strange. After all, to her, Dominic was just a regular government employee. She was curious why even the director of the City Planning Department seem to be bowing down to him.
Despite her confusion, Brynn didn’t ask. She watched the man bowing before them, her expression turned cold. “I’m just an ordinary person. I don’t have the right to ‘forgive‘ you.”
She believed the world would be so much easier if everything could be solved with a simple “sorry,” and she wanted to teach the official a lesson.
But the man’s face went frantic. “If you’re going to punish someone, punish me, but please spare my family!” he added.
Brynn blinked. What was this about?
Seeing that Brynn still hadn’t spoken, the man panicked and spilled everything.
“Ms. Everett, I’m only here because I received a complaint from the Everett Group. Their heiress was the one who’s been trying to target you!”
He was regretting this deeply. How did he end up here, getting involved with all this mess? At first, he only wanted to make connections with the Everett Group, but now…
His hatred shifted to Kylie, the one who had set this whole thing in motion.
Brynn wasn’t shocked to hear this. She’d expected it. What surprised her was how much trouble Kylie had caused.
She narrowed her eyes, lost in thought.
Just then, a group of people rushed towards them, their faces full of urgency. The one leading them was the director of the

City Planning Department.
Brynn frowned. The director was here because of something so trivial? Did he come to support his nephew?
Her expression became serious, and she wondered how she should handle this situation,

But to her surprise, as soon as the director reached them, he completely ignored his nephew and went straight to Dominic, bowing respectfully, “Presid…”
He was just about to greet when he saw Dominic’s warning expression. Instead, he quickly changed the title before continuing.
“Mr. Johnson, I didn’t know you were coming to Portmare. We should’ve prepared better to welcome you!”
