Chapter 53
The next morning, Dominic woke up to see Brynn still fast asleep. He carefully slid his arm out from under her neck, got dressed, and kissed her forehead gently.
After leaving the villa, he got in his car and called his assistant.
“Mr. President, we’ve confirmed that the guy has been seen in Portmare and is probably still around,” the assistant said.
Dominic’s eyes darkened. “Lock down all exits in Portmare. We can’t let him get away.”
The assistant replied, “Got it.”

When Brynn finally woke up, it was almost noon. She stretched, lingered in bed for a bit, then got up with a yawn.
Since she didn’t have to work, she decided to take a couple of days to rest and figure out her next career move.
Going solo, which she’d been thinking about, might be a good idea now. But first, she needed to hire some people and find enough funding.
“It’s going to be a tough road,” she muttered to herself.
After feeling her slightly greasy hair, Brynn headed to the bathroom. A few minutes later, she came out drying her hair with a towel and saw Dominic, dressed in a suit, smiling at her.
“Good morning, honey,” Dominic said, walking over and taking the towel from her. He dried her hair like he always did. “Are you hungry? Breakfast is ready,” he added.
Brynn felt a little embarrassed. “I can do it myself.”
“I’m your husband. No need to be shy,” Dominic teased.
Brynn’s face turned even redder. “I didn’t mean that. I was just saying I could use a hairdryer. It’d be faster.”
Dominic just chuckled. A minute later, he was drying her hair with the hairdryer while Brynn sat at the dining table, enjoying her breakfast.
The sunlight streamed through the windows, illuminating the entire dining room and casting a particularly warm glow over the space between them. But time wouldn’t stand still.
“I might have to go back to Eaglemont. Would you like to come with me?” Dominic asked, turning off the hairdryer.
Brynn was taken aback. She wasn’t ready to meet his parents yet. This was way too sudden.
She hesitated for a moment and then shook her head. “I think I’ll stay. I just quit my job, and I still have some stuff to wrap
up.”
Dominic wrapped his arms around her from behind and nuzzled her soft hair. “Alright, whatever you say. I’ll be back as soon as I’m done.”
Brynn’s face turned even redder, and she playfully swatted his hand. “I didn’t say I was rushing you…”
After a few more moments of cuddling, Dominic reluctantly let her go. Brynn saw him out, and before he got in the car, she
leaned in and kissed his cheek.
Only after the kiss ended did she realize how bold she’d been and quickly looked away, blushing even more. “Drive safe,” she

muttered.
“I will,” Dominic replied, his voice a little husky. He got in the car and drove off without another word, afraid he might change his mind and stay.

Brynn watched the car disappear before she turned back inside. She couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off about Dominic and the bigwigs‘ reactions at the party last night.
She hesitated for a moment and then couldn’t resist pulling out her phone to search for information on the new president.
But she couldn’t find any photos of him online.
“That’s weird…” she muttered. Then she decided to check the official website.
There, she found a news update saying the president was about to go abroad for interviews. “Abroad? So I was overthinking it,” she breathed a sigh of relief.
There was no way Dominic could be the president if he had a different schedule.
