Seeing that the scene had finally quieted down, Brenda, who had been trying to explain but was repeatedly ignored, quickly spoke up.
“Everyone, please, listen to me!”
Her voice finally snapped the crowd back to their senses, drawing their attention to her.
Brenda cleared her throat and walked over to Brynn, even taking her hand in hers.
“I’m the wife of the patient in the video. Ms. Everett performed the surgery on my husband with my full consent, so please, don’t make things difficult for her anymore.”
As she spoke, her eyes turned red again, filled with overwhelming guilt. “Ms. Everett was only trying to help me, but because of that, she’s being viciously attacked online. I really… I feel so sorry for you!”
Choking up, she attempted to bow in apology, startling Brynn so much that she immediately reached out to stop her.
“Don’t!” Brynn had faced an angry mob earlier without flinching, yet now she was breaking into a cold sweat. “Ma’am, this isn’t your fault–why are you apologizing to me?”
If anyone deserved to be cursed out, it was that heartless Dr. Creed.
“Exactly, ma’am! If anyone should be apologizing, it’s Dr. Creed!” Dr. Caldwell chimed in, nodding in agreement. “Rest assured, I will be suing him–there’s no way he’s getting away with this!”
After comforting Brenda, Dr. Caldwell quickly turned to the media and the hospital staff to clear things up. “Everyone, you’ve really misunderstood Ms. Everett. She was trained by the Di-”
“Ahem.”
Noticing that Dr. Caldwell was about to reveal her secret, Brynn quickly coughed.
Being a sharp man, Dr. Caldwell immediately changed his wording.
*… distinguished master, whose identity is confidential. But I can personally vouch for her medical skills—they even surpass my own!”
The implication was clear–Ms. Everett was certainly no fraud.
With the clarification video, Brenda’s testimony, and Dr. Caldwell’s public endorsement, anyone who still doubted Brynn at this point must lose their minds.
“Sorry, sorry! This was all a misunderstanding.”
“Ms. Everett is actually a kind–hearted doctor–it’s all because of that misleading post online!”
“Yeah, that Dr. Creed is really disgusting for posting that nonsense!”
Hearing their apologies, Brynn didn’t take it to heart. “It’s fine. I understand you were all just concerned about the truth.” ‘
Her response made everyone breathe a sigh of relief, admiring her grace.
“But…” Brynn’s expression turned serious. “I hope that in the future, everyone refrains from jumping to conclusions before knowing the full story. Words have the power to destroy a person.”
At that, many people lowered their heads in guilt.

Meanwhile, a few individuals noticed Chase trying to sneak away and instantly directed their anger toward him.
“Hold it right there! It was this guy’s nonsense that led us to misunderstand Ms. Everett!”
In an instant, Chase was surrounded.
A reporter recognized him and gasped. “Wait a second–isn’t he Chase Johnson?”
“Chase Johnson?”
Everyone turned toward the reporter in confusion.

“Yes, Chase Johnson.” The reporter nodded, his gaze filled with disdain as he stared at Chase. “He’s Ms. Everett’s ex–boyfriend -no, actually, her ex–fiancé.”.
“But on the day of their wedding, he abandoned her and ran off with another woman.”
The crowd erupted. If that wasn’t the definition of a scumbag, wha
was?
Dumping his fiancée on their wedding day? And cheating? Disgusting!
Angry shouts and curses rained down on Chase, who wanted to retort, but how could he possibly out–yell an entire crowd?
In the end, he had no choice but to crawl his way out of the crowd, his clothes wrinkled from the struggle.
“Ugh! What a scumbag!”
Someone recorded Chase’s humiliating escape and rolled their eyes in disgust.
Then they posted the video online.
Trash like him, who not only lacked a conscience but also stirred up trouble, deserved to be dragged across the internet and publicly condemned!
With that, the commotion settled. Dr. Caldwell had the crowd dispersed, and soon, the once–noisy hospital corridor was peaceful again.

Watching his slightly hunched figure, Brynn couldn’t help but sigh as well.
“Ms. Everett, I’m really sorry.”
Brenda, still filled with guilt, apologized again.
“If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have had to go through all this…
Even though Brynn had reassured her earlier, she still couldn’t shake off the weight in her heart.
“It’s all over now, so please don’t blame yourself anymore.” Brynn smiled at her. “Go check on your husband—I’ll be leaving
now.”
With that, Brynn turned to leave. But just as she did, Brenda caught a glimpse of a birthmark peeking through the torn fabric on Brynn’s sleeve.
