Upon realizing the urgency of the situation, Brynn quickly opened her bag and pulled out a small porcelain bottle. She carefully poured out a single pill and fed it to the little girl,
As she administered the medicine, she turned to Mr. Buckman with a grave expression. “Mr. Buckman, her circulation is severely blocked. Please have the hotel staff clear out a room for me immediately–I need to perform a bloodletting procedure.”
Gary had already noticed that the girl’s condition was worsening. Without hesitation, he nodded. “Understood. I’ll handle it.”
He hurried into the hotel and instructed the staff to prepare a vacant room upstairs.
Without wasting a second, Brynn picked up Zoe and rushed toward the hotel.
Mrs. Johnson finally snapped out of her daze and quickly followed after them, her voice choked with emotion.
“Miss, are you a doctor? How is my granddaughter doing?”
“I’m not a doctor, but I do know medicine,”
Brynn replied as she climbed the stairs.
Mrs. Johnson didn’t fully grasp the meaning of her words, but seeing Brynn leave, she had no choice but to follow closely behind.
Meanwhile, Kylie, who had been left alone, stomped her foot in frustration as she watched them hurry off.
She didn’t believe for a second that Brynn could save the child. But if the girl died…
No, she had to erase the hotel’s surveillance footage.
That way, even if the child didn’t make it, it wouldn’t be her problem.
With that thought, she slipped around to the back of the lobby and made her way toward the surveillance room.
Upstairs, Brynn took off her coat and laid it on the table before carefully placing Zoe on top of it.
“Mr. Buckman, please prepare some alcohol, sterilized scissors, a water basin, silver needles, and any other necessary tools.”
Gary nodded. “Got it. I have silver needles in my bag. I’ll have the staff bring the rest.”
Within moments, everything was ready.
Brynn put on a mask and was about to begin the procedure when-
“Wait!”
Just as the silver needle was about to touch Zoe’s skin, Mrs. Johnson suddenly grabbed Brynn’s hand.
Brynn looked at her in confusion, then quickly realized what was happening. “Ma’am, I understand that you may not trust my medical skills, but your granddaughter’s condition is critical. If I don’t act now-
“No, it’s not that I don’t trust you.”
Mrs. Johnson interrupted, shaking her head.
Her response only made Brynn more confused.

If she didn’t distrust her, then why was she stopping her?
“Miss, I know you mean well, but my granddaughter’s condition is unique. If anything happens to her, even I wouldn’t be able to bear the responsibility. Mrs. Johnson sighed and cast a worried glance at Zoe. “How about this–I’ll call the director of First General Hospital and have him come take a look?”
“But there’s no time…”
Mrs. Johnson hesitated before biting her lip. “Miss, can you stabilize her condition for now?”
“I… “Brynn hesitated for a moment before nodding. “I’ll do my best.”
As much as she wanted to proceed with the treatment, she couldn’t force it if the family didn’t consent.
“Thank you so much,” Mrs. Johnson said gratefully. “I’ll put the call on speakerphone. If you need any guidance, you can ask the director. I’ll feel more at ease with him advising you.”
Brynn agreed without hesitation.
Moments later, Mrs. Johnson dialed the director’s number.
The call was picked up almost instantly.
Upon hearing the voice on the other end, Brynn suddenly realized that the “director” Mrs. Johnson was referring to was the very same director she knew.
As Mrs. Johnson explained the situation over the phone, Brynn turned to Gary and quietly asked.
“Mr. Buckman, isn’t Dr. Caldwell the director of Saint Mercy Hospital? Why…”
“He holds both positions,” Gary explained. “Saint Mercy Hospital is actually run by his younger brother. Since it’s not as well- known, they brought him in to boost the reputation.”
Brynn finally understood.
Whether it was due to caller ID or some prior connection, the director’s tone toward Mrs. Johnson was exceptionally respectful.
After listening to her explanation, he immediately reassured her. “Madam, please don’t worry. I’ll dispatch an ambulance right away.”
“May I ask who is currently attending to Zoe?”
Before Brynn could respond, Gary eagerly leaned in and answered, “James, it’s Ms. Everett!”
“Oh? Gary?”
Hearing his old friend’s voice, the director was momentarily stunned before breaking into a delighted chuckle.
Ms. Everett… Could it be the First Lady?
Well, now–what an unexpected twist. This was actually a family matter!
On the other end of the call, Dr. Caldwell’s voice carried a hint of amusement.
“Madam, if Ms. Everett is the one treating her, you have nothing to worry about! She may look young, but her medical skills surpass even mine.”
Dr. Caldwell deliberately refrained from revealing Brynn’s identity.
