Chapter 10
As Ayrton and Walter settled down next to Claire at the table adjacent to Lucille’s, they couldn’t help but shower Claire with affection, their eyes brimming with fondness…
Lauri, witnessing this, was so infuriated that she nearly pulverized her steak, but Lucille remained as composed as ever. Laura had no choice but to swallow her frustration in silence E
It wasn’t long before the two finished dinner and left together.
Lucille, after bidding goodbye to Laura, returned home
That night. Ayrton and Walter didn’t come back, but Lucille wasn’t bothered. She was busy packing her last few bags.
In the morning, the sound of footsteps outside indicated Ayrton and Walter’s return, It made sense. Today was the day they were moving into the new house. What they didn’t know was that their new home, their future, wouldn’t include her
As the noise outside grew louder, likely due to the moving commotion, Lucille ignored it. She was just finishing her packing when her mother called.2
“Lucille, when does your flight land? We’ll pick you up at the airport,” Chloe’s gentle voice came through the phone
Lucille checked her flight details and replied softly, Tll be amving around 7 PM.%
Just then, her door swung open, revealing Ayrton and Walter standing there.
Walter casually asked, “Who are you talking to?”
“No one.” Lucille replied cuntly, ending the call.
Her chilly tone caught them off guard. Ever since Claire showed up, Lucille had been distant.
Ayrton felt uneasy, his mind replaying Lucille’s unusual behavior. He blurted out, “Lucille, Claire’s different from you. She’s had a tough life, and I just want to help her out. That’s all,”
er? Why are you jealous now?”
Walter chimed in. “Yeah, we just feel sorry for her. Besides, you introduced us to Claire, remember?
Lucille remained composed. “Why are you telling me this?”
In unison, they replied, “Because you care!?
They had grown up together childhood friends who understood each other’s unspoken words and gestures. How could they not sense her feelings?
But now they couldn’t quite understand her anymore!
Lucille’s gaze was cool, as if she was looking at strangers. “I don’t care. You said she’s just a friend, and I’m your friend too. So why would I care?%
Their silence was telling
Ayrton finally spoke, “Lucille, you know I’ve never wanted just friendship with you.”
Walter couldn’t hide his emotions, “After all these years, do you really think we’re just friends?”
Lucille knew what they meant. They both had feelings for her, wanted to be with her. But if supporting Claire meant belittling her, she couldn’t accept their affection !
She nodded. “Yes, we’ll have another kind of relationship.”
Soon, they wouldn’t even be friends.
Another kind of relationship–strangers X
Her words had a hidden meaning, and Ayrton felt
cton felt a pang
of unease, about to speak when a driver came in to collect Lucille’s luggage
Lucille stopped him. “You can go ahead. I’ll take it myself.“)
Walter was agitated. “How are you going to manage all this alone? Don’t be stubbom. It’s my fault, I apologize.” Lucille was firm. I really don’t need help. Go help Claire. She lives alone and needs your assistance more.”
Ayrton detected the sarcasm in her words and frowned, just as Claire called
“Ayrton, Waller, can you help me out? I’m so clumsy and can’t do anything right, her voice whined through the phone?
The two exchanged a glance and, seeing Lucille’s resolute expression implying she didn’t need any help, decided to leave!!
Ayrton ended the call and turned to Lucille. “Claire’s struggling, I have to help her.”
Walter grabbed his car keys. “Il come too.”
Just before leaving. Ayrton, still concerned, added, “Lucille, I know you’re upset. I’ve booked a restaurant. Let’s have dinner after the move,

and I’ll explain everything about Claire.”
Before Lucille could respond, he hurried out.
Watching them leave, Lucille smiled wryly.
Explain later?
Too bad, there wouldn’t be a later for them.
Considering Ayrton and Walter’s recent actions, Lucille doubted what more there was to explain.
Soon, her phone buzzed with a message from Claire, dripping with provocation.
[Sorry, Lucille, it only took one call for me to have Ayrton and Walter leave you. Looking forward to living together!]?
Lucille smirked, her fingers tapping out a reply:
[Wishing the three of you have a wonderful life. I won’t be a part of it]
With that, she blocked Claire’s contacts.
Next was Ayrton.
Finally, Walter
Her contact list was cleared, and with it, they vanished from her world.
Pulling her suitcase, Lucille stepped out of the house filled with countless memories, leaving without a backward glance.!!
