When I saw Kendrick again at the divorce registration office, I almost didn’t recognize him.
The stubble on his bruised chin made him look extremely dejected.
I just paused for a moment, took a step towards him and said, “Let’s go.”
It was rare for me to take the initiative, and his nodding motion was somewhat excited.
The process was even faster than last time, and when I got the certificate, I felt relieved.
There came a cautious voice from behind.
“Judith, how have you been recently?”
I looked back and Kendrick’s expectant gaze met mine.
