Chapter 5
When I got back to the hotel, took a shower and lay on the bed, my phone suddenly popped up with a message.
It was sent by an unknown number.
“Judith, let’s talk.”
“Talk about divorce? Sure.”
“Did you have to do it like this?”
I impatiently directly blocked this number as well.
After that, Kendrick would occasionally appear in front of me in various ways, and the amount of money he would deposit into my account kept
increasing.
I was happy to see the achievements and gladly accepted them all.
But Kylie’s Instagram was getting updated more and more frequently every day.
A luxurious banquet with clinking glasses and mingling conversations.
Custom–made high–end evening gown.
The brilliance of millions of fireworks on the cruise ship.
The top floor scenery of the high–end office building…
All the photos could find Kendrick’s faint silhouette.
A friend kindly reminded me, and I always just smiled and thanked them.
Kendrick was indeed busy, I have never seen him again.
When he was flying around the world with Kylie, I took some time to go to the hospital and had a surgery.
I lay on the sickbed and forced a smile to comfort Peyton.
“It wasn’t as scary as I imagined, thank you for being with me.”
He just looked at me with red eyes and said, “At times like this, you don’t have to pretend to be strong.”
I tried to smile, but tears flowed down.
A life just flowed away from my body like this, how could there be no feeling?
The separation of body and soul, painful enough to suffocate.
Just like, what’s done is done.
Just like, it’s difficult to mend a broken mirror.
Peyton accompanied me for many days.
I just found out that Peyton is the youngest son of the Warner Group, who could dominate the medical field.
No wonder he didn’t need to put in much effort to get sponsorships when he was the student council president.
My body recovered quickly under the care of a professional nutritionist.
Peyton’s enthusiasm for sharing was very strong.
I didn’t have time to indulge in spring sorrow and autumn sadness every day, as I was busy listening to him gossip about various things.
I knew that my heart was slowly healing little by little.
Until one day, the schedule reminder suddenly popped up.
It was only then that I remembered that tomorrow was the Carlson family’s banquet, and as Mrs. Carlson, I also needed to participate.
Moreover, Kendrick’s grandmother, Jaclyn Carlson, was present, and she treated me like her own granddaughter. I couldn’t not go.
The next day, I dressed up a little and drove to the Carlson’s Manor.

Betrayed by her mate, she ran away, and then found out the secret of what she was.

I saw Kendrick’s car while waiting for the last traffic light.
He even brought Kylie to the family banquet.
I overtook him, brushing past his Rolls–Royce.
The sound of metal collision was sharp and piercing, I stepped on the brake.
Meeting their terrified gazes in the car, I flipped them off with a middle finger.
Then I left.
When Kendrick hugged Jaelyn, he had just parked the car in the yard.
I satisfactorily watched the rearview mirror that I knocked off and the badly scratched body.
Kendrick was well–educated and remained calm even after I messed with him like this.
It was just Kylie’s face, trying hard to put on a smile, looking a bit pale.
“Jaelyn, this is Kylie, as I mentioned to you, I am a good friend of Judith’s.”
“Jaelyn, hi, I’m Kylie. I’ve always wanted to visit you, but I just returned to the country recently, so it took a bit longer. Please don’t be mad.”
Jaelyn squinted her eyes and looked at me, then looked at them.
Jaelyn
She patted my hand and said, “Let’s go, come in.”
I simply ignored Kylie’s words.
I smiled and let her pull my hand into the house.
